Switch loyalty programs for same status? SPG to Hyatt
 

Hi,
I'm doing a bunch of international travel for work and unfortunately the SPG hotels are above my rate caps. I noticed Hyatt was within range. Do you know if I call up Hyatt CSR if they will give me the equivalent status for the rest of the year? I don't mind moving completely to Hyatt as my business locations they have a presence.

Has anyone been success in making this switch? Any tips or #'s to call?

Hyatt doesn't do outright status matches anymore - what they've been doing is a challenge - you submit your status with other chains (eg Plat SPG for Diam Hyatt) - they should enroll you in the challenge which gives you Diamond status immediately but requires that you complete 12 nights in 60 days to retain the Diamond status (which at this point would be through 2/2013).
