The shortest flight from Male Domestic terminal to Kooddoo Domestic Airport is ~55 minutes and the longest flight takes ~1 hour 45 minutes due to a ‘stop over’ in Kadhdhoo Domestic Airport.

A scenic and short speedboat journey of approximately 30-40 minutes (weather dependent) will follow as the final stretch of the journey to our island.

Map of the resort
Best Villas
Water villas: Generally the higher number the better. #51 is the most private
How to save money during stay
Have late breakfast (breakfast is free for all guests except if you are redeeming points), skip lunch, and only pay for dinner
The Saturday free cocktail social (manager's reception) is at 6:30pm
Bring family?
This resort is not orientated for children. No kids club, pool is not suitable for young kids, and you will need to pay the transfers for each child, and plenty of PDA.
That said, some families have loved their experience here. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...hadahaa-review. If you bring children the Hyatt does provide sitting service for $20/hour.

Also note that the resort charges $250 per child age 3 and up per night (even if the child does not require an extra bed). Only kids 2 and under are free. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...a-bed-fee-ever
Wifi
As at January 2022, the resort's wifi speed is 10-12Mbps.
Tipping
The management views employees as each part of a team, with no one more important to the hotel's success. No one wants to order room service if the groundskeeper or housekeeper has not created an inviting place to enjoy it for instance. So employees share equally the 10% service charge added into everything, including the room charge. Tipping beyond that is not necessary, but at your discretion. Unlike the service charge which is shared with all employees on the entire property, if you choose to add additional gratuity to the bill for a meal or an activity, that money is shared amongst employees of the department responsible for that meal or service (e.g. additional gratuity on a dive center bill will be shared amongst those employees, while additional gratuity on a Dining Room bill will be shared amongst the food service employees). Employees are also allowed to keep cash tips that they receive directly. Employees are rewarded with trips and other gifts when their outstanding service is brought to management's attention. A great way to reward a good employee is by letter to management.
See this post which provides more details http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22508516-post1525.html
Ipad App
There is an Ipad in each room that has an app with a lot of useful / interesting information. If you have an Ipad, you can search & download the app for: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. It doesn't work on an iPhone due to the page size. Some info may be out of date or missing, so check with the resort.

Longer-Term Upgrades
- All villa AC units will be replaced in the next year as the R-22 refrigerant currently utilized will no longer be legal in the Maldives.
- Seawater cooling system that can augment the AC in the water villas will be tested.
- The resort is considering the addition of plunge pools to water villas.
- The resort hopes to build a 2-3 bedroom Presidential Villa with a large plunge pool at the end of the water villa pier on the space that is currently unoccupied.

Additionally, the hotel was kind enough to show us the renovated villas and let us take some photos. I was told that all work on the new villas should be completed by ~November 15.

Deluxe Park Pool Villa
Three villas are being converted to Deluxe Park Pool Villas, which will have an enlarged plunge pool with infinity edge, submerged chaise lounge chairs, and an outdoor covered area with seating. It's a stunning transformation of the outdoor area! The interior of the villas is unchanged so I didn't ask to see that or take photos.

2 Bedroom Park Pool Villa (Family Villa)
Three villas are being converted to 2 Bedroom Park Pool Villas. These villas have a new entryway with the original villa door to one side, the new bedroom door to the opposite side, and a glass door to the pool area straight ahead. The second bedroom has two single beds that can be combined. It utilizes the same size AC as the original villas, so it should cool effectively because it's a smaller space. The second bedroom also features a full bathroom with indoor shower and toilet enclosures. There's no outdoor bathroom space for the second bedroom. The family villas also feature the new enlarged plunge pool with infinity edge.

Thanks for the info. We're headed there in two weeks, and I upgraded the last three nights of my stay in a deluxe pool villa, so I'm super excited. I'll be sure to take a lot of pics when I get the chance.

The three villas that are deluxe park pool villas are 2/4 as you mentioned and 10.

How was the food during your stay? A good majority of the reviews are hit or miss on the dining room and specialty dinners like the bbq. Any thoughts are appreciated!

For what it's worth, in my experience, the cost differential between villa categories seems to be quite stable over time, but the price of the base Park Villa goes up and down, which affects the price of the other villas.

I hope this helps!
The price difference between the base villa and the water villa is only $349 on my dates -- yet I have been quoted $499 (incl taxes) for the upgrade. Should I be asking for a new quote?

Look at the price difference after taxes/fees. That might be why, try a mock reservation.

Actually, I'd be willing to bet that's actually the reason for the free babysitting. If they can get people to utilize this benefit, the babysitters would be keeping the children away from the main areas. Therefore, the parents would have some privacy and "couple time" and other guests would have more quiet without having to worry about parents who weren't watching their kids. Everyone wins.

It's a great idea if noisy children were becoming an issue at the resort. I have two small children, but my wife and I tend to be quite strict, but not everyone does this, especially in certain cultures. Offering up a free service to keep the kids entertained while simultaneously away from the other guests all while marketing it as a way for the parents to enjoy "couple time"... I think it's genius.

Does anyone know if it costs the same to upgrade at the time of check-in? ie Park Villa -> Park Water Villa still ~$500?

It's probably the same price but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. I can't really confirm the upgrade right now because i'm still waiting for Etihad APT and Qatar Qsuite award space to open up...

Also, is 3 days at the PH Maldives too short? Wife and I aren't exactly resort/beach people, so I was thinking maybe 3 days is enough. We don't plan on doing much water activities, pretty much just relax. Would it be too rush?

Thanks!

Also make sure that you're looking at the "Standard Rate" rather than a discounted rate. I can't guarantee that my suggestion always works, but it definitely has been true on multiple occasions that I've done a paid upgrade to a water villa (and also seems consistent with quote that others have posted here).

Thanks for providing the villa numbers! I was going to write those, but couldn't remember the third number so figured it was better to omit the information. It'll be great to have more detailed photos of the new villas from your upcoming stay.

To be honest, I'm not that picky when it comes to food! However, my wife is more selective and was generally satisfied with the food. I think that because this trip was a return visit for us, we already had an idea of which food items we might or might not like, and so we ordered accordingly. We enjoyed all of the dishes that we tried from the Dining Room and the Island Grill. We generally avoid the specialty dinners like the BBQ because they're quite expensive and the reviews that I've seen are not the most positive.

Since our last stay, the resort has also turned Drift into a specialty restaurant that offers a rotating assortment of cuisines depending on the night (Italian, Chinese hotpot, and Thai, I believe). We didn't try that option during our visit for the same reason that we don't usually do the other specialty dinners. This probably doesn't affect many people, but because of the conversion of Drift to a restaurant, Afternoon Tea is now accommodated at The Bar instead of Drift.

I'm not sure on the upgrade at the time of check-in, but I'd imagine it's the same price because that's the "Standard Rate" and not a discounted rate purchased in advance. The issue you might run into (especially during peak season) is that they may actually not have availability if you haven't pre-reserved a water villa. However, I haven't personally tried this so it's purely speculation.

Do you mean 3 nights/4 days, or 2 nights/3 days? Keep in mind that you'll have a lot of travel on your arrival/departure days, so you'll probably want to have several non-travel days to enjoy the resort! It's obviously up to your personal preferences though. We've found that 4 nights/5 days has been a good amount of time at the resort, although we seem to always wish for one more day there haha.

Thank you for the reply makavel, i meant 4 days / 3 nights, arriving Thursday at night and leaving late Sunday night (red-eye CX to HKG). I'm actually planning to head over in 2 weeks, so hopefully any sort of flight availability opens up.

Has anyone stayed only 3 nights before? Seems like everyone is there for at least 4 nights.

Thanks!

Sounds like we might be there around the same time!

Our first time in the Maldives we did 4 nights, and thought it was perfect. We definitely could have done longer, but 4 felt quite nice, given the laid back slow island pace that the Maldives provides. Given the extra distance PHM takes due to the domestic flight and boat ride, we decided to do another night this time around. Honestly 3 would probably feel rushed. Plus given the cost of the transfer itself, it feels a bit more worthwhile staying a few days longer.

Thanks for the feedback. Island Grill seems to be the spot to that gets the best reviews from everyone. The specialty restaurant sounds interesting though.

Hi, so we finally got this all booked up and will be there in a couple weeks. What is the power situation? (kind of last minute, i know). We have a 3 day stopover in London, so we'll have an adapter already, but something I hadn't considered entirely.

Any update on the construction? What would be a good beach villa at this to request?

Thanks, Cant wait!!

The UK power adapter that you'll have from London should also work for The Maldives! The Park Hyatt has universal plugs by the bedside, so you wouldn't need it there, but I believe the bathroom has the regular UK plugs (at least in the water villas). That adapter will also serve you well in the airport lounge while you're waiting for your connecting domestic flight.

The beach on the side of the island near villas 12/14 was great during our visit last month! My understanding is that the beach near villas 20-26 is also good year-round.

Enjoy your trip!

I thought I'd weigh in as we just returned from 3 nights. There are a few things to consider. The first is that the transfer took much longer than I thought it would. We arrived on EY at around 2pm. We didnt make it to the resort until 8:15 and then there is an hour time change. We ended up just going to bed when we got in, but they did offer dinner. Second, if you dive, the first day has to be your orientation dive. They won't let you dive within 24 hours of your departing flight. So day 1 was house reef and day 2 was only a morning boat dive. Lastly, even though I'm a globalist they were at full capacity so we had to leave our room at 12 the day of checkout. They did offer us a spa villa which has a shower so we could snorkel before flying out.

Overall I would do 3 nights again, but the wife would have done 4. The difference is she loves to dive and I like to dive. Neither of us enjoys sitting and relaxing on the beach or going to the spa, so the time spent not diving was kind of painful, but the snorkeling around the house reef isn't horrible.
