Best Villas
Water villas: Generally the higher number the better. #51 is the most private
How to save money during stay
Have late breakfast (breakfast is free for all guests except if you are redeeming points), skip lunch, and only pay for dinner
The Saturday free cocktail social (manager's reception) is at 6:30pm
Bring family?
This resort is not orientated for children. No kids club, pool is not suitable for young kids, and you will need to pay the transfers for each child, and plenty of PDA.
That said, some families have loved their experience here. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...hadahaa-review. If you bring children the Hyatt does provide sitting service for $20/hour.

Also note that the resort charges $250 per child age 3 and up per night (even if the child does not require an extra bed). Only kids 2 and under are free. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...a-bed-fee-ever
Wifi
As at January 2022, the resort's wifi speed is 10-12Mbps.
Tipping
The management views employees as each part of a team, with no one more important to the hotel's success. No one wants to order room service if the groundskeeper or housekeeper has not created an inviting place to enjoy it for instance. So employees share equally the 10% service charge added into everything, including the room charge. Tipping beyond that is not necessary, but at your discretion. Unlike the service charge which is shared with all employees on the entire property, if you choose to add additional gratuity to the bill for a meal or an activity, that money is shared amongst employees of the department responsible for that meal or service (e.g. additional gratuity on a dive center bill will be shared amongst those employees, while additional gratuity on a Dining Room bill will be shared amongst the food service employees). Employees are also allowed to keep cash tips that they receive directly. Employees are rewarded with trips and other gifts when their outstanding service is brought to management's attention. A great way to reward a good employee is by letter to management.
See this post which provides more details http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22508516-post1525.html
Ipad App
There is an Ipad in each room that has an app with a lot of useful / interesting information. If you have an Ipad, you can search & download the app for: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. It doesn't work on an iPhone due to the page size. Some info may be out of date or missing, so check with the resort.

Just booked a points stay here in April. Before I booked, I had my PL rep confirm with the Guest Relations department that the cancelation policy only applies if you are within 30 days of the stay. Otherwise, there is no penalty.

We have some wierd flights coming into MLE but the hotel has assured us that we will have no longer than a 3-4 hour wait until we head to the local airport. We arrive at 1:00 AM and depart at 9:35 AM so we shall see what they say. We just sent them the info so hopefully they will get back to us soon on that.

Even with all of the mixed reviews, this seems like a great place for a point redemption and we are looking forward to the stay.

Just booked this property for couple of nights. When enquiring about few different matters via email has been told "since we do not have Club rooms and all rooms are suites,we do not offer any upgrades to Diamond members".
Apart from that, got a fairly aggressive attempt to sell me more nights.
I know how many nights I'd like to stay, thank you very much...
Anyway,in all PH I stayed, they always offered 1-cat upgrade to Diamonds,at least. So this hotel apparently is writing they own rules.Makes you feel very unwelcome,I'm really tempted to cancel now.

El Puerco Volante.

Maybe they are thinking like I would about a two night stay here. Given the transportation costs from Male it makes the per night cost much higher. This is in addition to the time it will take both ways. I would guess it is highly unusual that they have two night guests.

With all due respect,I don't need them to think. I can take care of this myself :-)

Being a PH, I would expect them to be as accommodating as possible - instead of getting told "no upgrades for Diamonds, but maybe we can sell you more nights?"

I really want to check this new PH out, but if this will be the treatment they reserve to Diamonds - I'll be off to Six Senses.

I stayed in almost all big chain resorts in MLE - and ALL of them upgrade they top tier customers.

So I find the "no upgrade" approach by this particular hotel very cheap and unwelcoming. And also violating the group-wide Hyatt rules.

El Puerco Volante.

I didn't know they treat Diamond member like this given the low occupancy rate. I would postpone my trip to Maldives.

If all the rooms are suites and more or less the same kind, what the hotel could do about upgrades ?

There are different types of "suites" - at least 3 types, as far as I can see from the website. So there is ample possibility to upgrade a Diamond member.

So if they want to - they can certainly take care of Diamonds, like every other chain resort in MLE does.

But apparently they are more interested to milk they customer then to serve them.

It really put me off this place, and I thought that it's good that other Diamonds know what to ( not ) expect.

It would be a pretty easy upgrade to go from standard island villa to a pool island villa.

Back when this was run by Allila they used to give this upgrade a lot by all accounts during off peak times. Not to mention the initial base rates were 25% less or more than what PH are trying to achieve

If are planning to stay here just make sure that you get something else than the "garden" "view". I have seen enough bushes in my life.

Man... I don't care if it's points or revenue . If I go all the way to the Maldives and get a view like that, I'd be pissed..

I guess some would call that "privacy".

If I go all the way to Maldives and get that, I'll be screaming for Mr. Lang immediately, and prepared to email with photos to Jeff Zidell and John Wallis.

I've never had such fear in booking a vacation as I do for this property (sad).

Looking at the map from the Alila days, aren't there only three "garden" units out of the resort's 51? Unless near capacity, that would be pretty bad to put a guest in if many beach villas were going vacant.

I believe of the total of 51 villas/rooms, there are 37 Garden or Island villas (and 14 over-the-water villas). The Garden/Island villas are with with private pool or without. I was using this property map from my info:
