A scenic and short speedboat journey of approximately 30-40 minutes (weather dependent) will follow as the final stretch of the journey to our island.

Map of the resort
Best Villas
Water villas: Generally the higher number the better. #51 is the most private
How to save money during stay
Have late breakfast (breakfast is free for all guests except if you are redeeming points), skip lunch, and only pay for dinner
The Saturday free cocktail social (manager's reception) is at 6:30pm
Bring family?
This resort is not orientated for children. No kids club, pool is not suitable for young kids, and you will need to pay the transfers for each child, and plenty of PDA.
That said, some families have loved their experience here. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...hadahaa-review. If you bring children the Hyatt does provide sitting service for $20/hour.

Also note that the resort charges $250 per child age 3 and up per night (even if the child does not require an extra bed). Only kids 2 and under are free. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...a-bed-fee-ever
Wifi
As at January 2022, the resort's wifi speed is 10-12Mbps.
Tipping
The management views employees as each part of a team, with no one more important to the hotel's success. No one wants to order room service if the groundskeeper or housekeeper has not created an inviting place to enjoy it for instance. So employees share equally the 10% service charge added into everything, including the room charge. Tipping beyond that is not necessary, but at your discretion. Unlike the service charge which is shared with all employees on the entire property, if you choose to add additional gratuity to the bill for a meal or an activity, that money is shared amongst employees of the department responsible for that meal or service (e.g. additional gratuity on a dive center bill will be shared amongst those employees, while additional gratuity on a Dining Room bill will be shared amongst the food service employees). Employees are also allowed to keep cash tips that they receive directly. Employees are rewarded with trips and other gifts when their outstanding service is brought to management's attention. A great way to reward a good employee is by letter to management.
See this post which provides more details http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22508516-post1525.html
Ipad App
There is an Ipad in each room that has an app with a lot of useful / interesting information. If you have an Ipad, you can search & download the app for: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. It doesn't work on an iPhone due to the page size. Some info may be out of date or missing, so check with the resort.

Welcome to FT.

With this property, you simply don't get told your transfers until the day before, if at all. It's best to not worry about it, and trust they will take care of everything. Every FT likes to have their plans confirmed, but as soon you collect your luggage and exit the rep with the Hyatt sign will look after you.

If you want to maximise the water villa I would do it in the middle. It's a hassle for packing but you may lose a day at the beginning, and will definitely at the end because of the transfer time.

You can only buy alcohol on departure from MLE not arrival.

I don't believe you pay taxes on award stays, but I could be wrong. Check the email confirmation. You obviously pay them on cash upgrade amounts and anything you add to your bill.

We found a large breakfast and dinner to be more then sufficient. The weather and location meant we weren't inclined to eat a lot, however were never hungry. The bar is good for snacks too.

Definitely do the beach BBQ. We saw a private dinner being setup and decided against it. It was far too windy to be enjoyable! Speak to the staff to organise something unique and away from other guests.

We took USD for tips. Personal preference but we always tip the individual staff member directly. This is completely your choice.

Welcome to FT.

6 months old

The last of our ten night stay is tonight.

For us none of the meal plans would've been worth it, A la Carte has worked well for us. Even if you yourself had a few beers I still couldn't see you getting full value out of the AI, I think AI works well if you like a couple of bottles of wine a day.
As above, two meals is enough for us. I did lose my appetite early due to illness, my appetite has returned and it is how always is for me out here, the heat and sometimes humidity does a good job or curbing the appetite.
You can change your meal plan once per stay so get here, get a feel for it all and change the following day if needs be.

No taxes on award stays, just on the upgrade portion as you already know.

ednpub posted some tentative flight times on 6 Feb and they are still valid or as valid as they can.

We never used the private pool. It was always cold. Because of the UV, you'll hardly see anyone sit by the main pool for more than an hour.

We are not paying to upgrade to a pool villa when we next return.
We really loved the pool villa, it is much nicer than the Park Villa, which looks like something is missing outside.

There were always people at the main pool and regardingthe UV, there are umbrellas and sunscreen.

Restaurant service was slow and spotty, but room service was great indeed.

Looks like a great trip! We did the private beach dining one night, and though it was excellent. Worth considering if the weather is nice.

As others have mentioned, there is no way we would have gotten enough value out of the all inclusive packages to make it worth the cost. A la carte worked well for us.

the upgrade cost seems pretty steep. You should compare the best available rates for each of the villa types during the dates of your stay, and see if you can negotiate a better price based on the difference in advertised costs. I did this the first time I stayed there after they quoted me rates that seemed too excessive, and was successfully able to get the cost reduced a bit. Worth a shot anyway.

Enjoy your trip!

We arrived at 5:00 pm yesterday (here until the 17th), and we were settled in one of the #30 villas. It's a nice private villa, but I was a bit disappointed that we had no beach view from our villa (still can't complain because we are here on points for 6 nights and 7 days). We are plats, so the only perk that we really have is the 15% off for cocktails and wine after 7pm if you want to consider it a perk, and 2pm checkout.
My wife and I slept all last night and got up early this morning for breakfast. We were super tired from our flight from SIN. Also, prior to that we were in MNL and TAC for charity work for 11 days where my wife and I were sick for half of that. It was really draining, so a long, good night sleep was great for us. My wife is sleeping again as I type this. haha
Breakfast was good. We also didn't get a straight answer for what we can order for breakfast as the waiter says that it is a $30 pax ++ meal, but when I asked if it was a buffet, he said that it was not. So, tomorrow we will just stuff ourselves since it seems to be same price no matter what we order. Might as well get our money's worth.
I was also a bit disappointed because I reserved a month ago and noted that we were here for our 18th year anniversary and Valentine's Day. At all other Hyatts that we've gone to in other countries, they would give us anniversary items like chocolates and other perks, but this was the only one that didn't give us anything. Anybody else have luck? I will ask our private concierge if he could avail us anything.
We decided to opt out of the AI as my wife barely drinks, and we don't want to gorge ourselves on food especially since we will be doing a fishing excursion and a private island picnic. Just doesn't seem to be cost effective for our case. Has anybody tried the private island picnic? Worth the $800++? Also, which fishing excursion should we do: trolling or traditional? How about the cruises? Worth it? Should we participate in snorkeling or diving as well?
We will be deciding tonight what to do for the next few days. I wanted to schedule before coming here for the pre-arrival discount, but I didn't want to over book when we are here to primarily relax after such a tiring trip in MNL and TAC. Being that it is our first time here, I did not want to overdo it. I have a feeling that we will be coming back in the future anyways. I would appreciate any info and tips.
Lastly, are any FTers here currently? Let's meet up!

Really? Don't you think that most of the people there are celebrating something, and Valentines day is still a few days away in my calender.... and it's something for YOU to do.... not for a hotel to participate in a commercialized event.

We are on the final night of our 9 night award stay. 6 nights in a park villa and 3 nights paid upgrade to over water. I am a diamond and was not provided an upgrade as the resort is really full right now. However our park villa was awesome...as is the water villa.

The diamond sundowners and canapés are a very nice touch. My wife and I have enjoyed them every day.

The beach BBQ buffet was very nice as well. We really enjoyed all the grilled seafood...prawns, lobster, tuna, and job fish. The chicken and steak were good too. Tons of deserts but we were too full from the main course!

The cocktail hour with the GM on Saturday night was very nice as well. Great canapés and plenty of beverages. There was a huge turnout.

The breakfasts were great as well. Plenty of food.

We did not eat lunch as we were still full from breakfast. I would recommend avoiding the AI options as breakfast and dinner is more than enough food.

The snorkeling has been great. I saw at least 6 sharks during my morning snorkel today! I also saw one of the resident turtles, eagle rays, and even a barracuda.

My wife had a massage treatment at the spa and had nothing but good things to say.

The staff have been outstanding with sincere concern for us always being happy.

My birthday occurred during our stay and our host/concierge surprised me with a birthday cake. I thought that was very nice as well.

We are already planning our next visit!

We've just landed back in the UK.
Breakfast was described to us as a la carte buffet.
Order as much as you like, we did and never had a billing problem.
30++ on the award days, no charge on the nights we paid for. I ordered a lot once I was over my sickness

The days of hotels providing Champagne or even a bottle of wine or a cake for an occasion are well over.

It may be worth mentioning, though.

As for a 'buffet,' this is not a hotel that offers buffets. Breakfast is entirely a la carte so the waiter probably did not understand what you meant. When you say buffet, it means Sizzler.

Your top tier with Hilton. Of course if you are an elite they will likely do it, but if you have lesser or no status, don't count on it.

One can only dream that they are important!

Awesome! Glad you're enjoying. Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, I tried to do a paid upgrade, but they are at 98% capacity with the OWVs fully booked for two weeks. We are going to do the BBQ buffet tomorrow for $115++ pax, and I believe we will be participating in the Valentine's Spa Package $380++ per couple on the day of. Still need to figure out what else to do. Taking it easy right now because the island doctor checked me out and said that I have mild hypertension as I've had a headache for 2 days now. Even in paradise I'm stressing out about my work at home.
I understand that the snorkel items are complimentary, but does one have to take the beginner's class to be able to snorkel out? Which side were you snorkeling out at?

Haha he knew full well what I meant. And, what he was saying is we could order all what we want a la carte, but it was not a buffet. I don't know about anybody else here, but when you can order and eat anything that you want, I'd call that a buffet. The BBQ tomorrow is also a buffet that was offered to me. But, I do appreciate your comments. I will try mentioning if there are any special items that could be given for this occasion as you recommend. Thanks again.
