Transfers and Costs

The shortest flight from Male Domestic terminal to Kooddoo Domestic Airport is ~55 minutes and the longest flight takes ~1 hour 45 minutes due to a ‘stop over’ in Kadhdhoo Domestic Airport.

A scenic and short speedboat journey of approximately 30-40 minutes (weather dependent) will follow as the final stretch of the journey to our island.
Any last minute name changes on domestic flight ticket are subject to a fee levied by the Maldivian Air. All such changes will be charged at the rate of USD 100 net per person. The exact flight timings are released two days before departure, but tend to be around these times:
  • Arrivals (Departure from MLE) : 10:30-11:00, 12:00, 13:40, 17:30hrs and last flight at 23:30
  • Departures (Departure from Kooddoo) : 0545hrs, 0800hrs, 1130hrs, 1530hrs and last departure at 1830hrs

Excess baggage will be charged and is subject to space availability and terms and conditions of the Air Carrier.

Map of the resort
Best Villas
Water villas: Generally the higher number the better. #51 is the most private
How to save money during stay
Have late breakfast (breakfast is free for all guests except if you are redeeming points), skip lunch, and only pay for dinner
The Saturday free cocktail social (manager's reception) is at 6:30pm
Bring family?
This resort is not orientated for children. No kids club, pool is not suitable for young kids, and you will need to pay the transfers for each child, and plenty of PDA.
That said, some families have loved their experience here. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...hadahaa-review. If you bring children the Hyatt does provide sitting service for $20/hour.

Also note that the resort charges $250 per child age 3 and up per night (even if the child does not require an extra bed). Only kids 2 and under are free. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...a-bed-fee-ever
Wifi
As at January 2022, the resort's wifi speed is 10-12Mbps.
Tipping
The management views employees as each part of a team, with no one more important to the hotel's success. No one wants to order room service if the groundskeeper or housekeeper has not created an inviting place to enjoy it for instance. So employees share equally the 10% service charge added into everything, including the room charge. Tipping beyond that is not necessary, but at your discretion. Unlike the service charge which is shared with all employees on the entire property, if you choose to add additional gratuity to the bill for a meal or an activity, that money is shared amongst employees of the department responsible for that meal or service (e.g. additional gratuity on a dive center bill will be shared amongst those employees, while additional gratuity on a Dining Room bill will be shared amongst the food service employees). Employees are also allowed to keep cash tips that they receive directly. Employees are rewarded with trips and other gifts when their outstanding service is brought to management's attention. A great way to reward a good employee is by letter to management.
See this post which provides more details http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22508516-post1525.html
Ipad App
There is an Ipad in each room that has an app with a lot of useful / interesting information. If you have an Ipad, you can search & download the app for: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. It doesn't work on an iPhone due to the page size. Some info may be out of date or missing, so check with the resort.

Other reports here, I recall at least one, have stated that where the last flight of the day was missed, the PH took total responsibility. Or perhaps it was missing the departure after check out because of large seas.

Regardless, if the PH does not allow guests to make their own reservations, and they state that they can't provide the transfer information, other than they will look after it, I would expect them to sort the situation out, and as a last resort rely on travel insurance.

Communication with the PH about customized transfer options is very very difficult. It took us a long time to arrange it for us, coming from a neighbor resort. The PH reservation staff was not helpful in this.

Has anyone had a problem booking a "couples rate" for diving if you are really not a "couple"? I am trying to pre-book all of our diving and other excursion in order to get the 10% discount and PH won't allow my two older sons (ages 25/21) to book PADI cert courses using the "couples rate" ($530 each vs $950 for a couple)?

I'll also be there over NYE, although technically not arriving until the 3rd as we decided to spend NYE-proper in Singapore. Plus the PHM NYE compulsory gala is quite expensive and probably not the best value!

Hello folks,
First off this forums has helped me a lot and will save me BIG BUCKS..! Thank you so much for it..!

I need your guys suggestions and notes on how/what i have planned for my honeymoon (Jan 2015)

This is how i am planning to pay for my 4 nights:
2 nights - Hyatt credit card
2 nights - transfer ultimate reward points to gold passport (50,000 points)

I will use the below link to request for a villa after my reservation is complete.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/20345989-post813.html

A few questions i have for you guys:

1) I called Hyatt and they do not offer breakfast for free nights or if you book room through points - with that being said should i opt for half-board? - I am a Platinum member - which will help me save more?

2) I am planning to stay 2 nights @ Park villa, one night @ Pool villa and last night @ Water Villa - Any input from you guys on this - how does this sound?

3) My return flight on the 5th day is @ 10:30 PM, would they allow for a late checkout...at like 4 PM? or would i have to end up paying extra for that?

Appreciate your inputs on this..!

Like a phantasy.. You don't get to pick all the room types when you don't pay for them.

Agreed. The pool villa isn't really worth the additional cost in my opinion. When I checked in last month I was given a complimentary upgrade to the pool villa on the last 3 nights of 4. It was nice, but not really much different or worth the significant cost.

Keep in mind, when you're switching rooms, it's moderately inconvenient as you can only move when your next room is available, and due to the distances between buildings, you really have to pack up everything into a golf cart (which they will move it), but still quite a hassle for little different. I'd just recommend booking a regular villa and asking for upgrade options on arrival. (If you've not done so before, take a diamond trial and increase your chances AND get free breakfast to boot). Personally, I'd much rather have access to the sandy side of the island so there's a beach (as it constantly shifts).

Relax...and enjoy the paradise! You'll love it.

In my opionion the Pool villa is considerably nicer than the standard one. In four nights I would not change rooms twice. Four days is definately not enough, I would vote for six at least, unless you visit another resort as well.

Thanks much for the input. I will try for the diamond trial before i leave (near December)
Appreciate all the input guys,
Thanks..!

If you're an avid snorkeler, then I'd suggest the OW villa for all nights - years from now you'll look back and be happy you upgraded.

After arriving, we have had a great couple of days. Weather has been sunny/hot for 2 days, and little rain/cloudy for the other two. Occupancy is about 45-50% at the moment but the OWs are at 90%+

We prefer the pool villa since we spend a lot of time soaking in it. We're in Villa 36 and the vegetation shades it well. Toured an OW villa and they do offer a very different experience than a park/pool villa.

Been real happy with the food and relaxing. This is a very isolated, remote area, great for getting away if you can deal with being forced to relax.

Apologies in advance for a really stupid question. Google didn't helped much as there is no right or wrong answer for this.

I cannot swim ( was always afraid of water )
Now i am planning to take swimming classes, do you guys think practicing couple times a week until January will give me enough confidence to snorkel by myself when i am at the Maldives? I know it will be worth putting all the efforts for that beautiful experience. But will this work? Or should i just not worry about this and enjoy the beautiful resort and enjoy the experience?

Thanks in advance

practice what you can, use a life jacket when you are there, and make sure you stay close to the shore
