Santa Fe, NM: Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort or Hilton Buffalo Thunder Resort –which one
In light of the price difference (Hyatt costs almost twice as much as Hilton) what is the netter place to go for 3 days stay in May? Has anybody been to both and can let me know the cons and pros for either place? Thanks a lot.

Some comments for your consideration, neither property is really in Santa Fe - the Hilton appears to be about 12 miles N of Santa Fe - the Hyatt is about 30 miles S of Santa Fe (about 1/2 way between Albuquerque and Santa Fe).
From the pictures, I think the properties are similar. I really like the Hyatt property but not sure what I would pick if it's 2x the price of the Hilton one.
Feel free to ask more specific questions.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do realize they are both not in Santa Fe which is fine with me since I more into exploring the surrounding area anyway. I am just wondering would the Hyatt at $ 211 for the cheapest room (they have a 3 for 2 deal as well) be worth the $ 100 difference/room/night vs the Hilton ($ 123 per room at the lowest rate). I am Gold with Hilton so breakfast would be complimentary as well... basically the question is whether the Hyatt is an outstanding site.

The Hyatt is located a bit more away from the highway in comparison to the Hilton. Please take a look at the master thread of the Tamaya Resort for a relatively new trip report written by myself in October 2010.
Honestly, I do not see any real value in paying $ 200 + taxes and resort fees for the Hyatt, if you do not have Diamond status ( resulting in free breakfast and appetizers in the evening ) and even then, considering that you care more about the area and not the hotel, it is probably not worth it.
Saving $ 100 and getting breakfast should seal the deal for the Hilton. If you plan to visit Sandia Peak and ABQ, however, I would recommend staying in the ABQ area. Sante Fe is infamous for its traffic jams and it is quite a stretch from the Hilton to ABQ.
Hard to believe, but public transport between Santa Fe and ABQ is actually a decent option.

My wife and I went to Tamaya last year from some free days. We loved the place. Beautiful property. Golf, fun pool - great for kids, horseback riding, short walk to Rio Grande, and I think ballooning. Everything but the pool an additional cost of course.
If you are planning to relax and stick around the grounds then I wouldn't say ~$200 per night is too much. If however you are going to be touring the surrounding areas and using this just as a place to sleep, I'd go with a cheaper option.
Not exactly an answer to what you were asking but hopefully helpful.

Thanks a lot for all the valuable advice, greatly appreciated. I guess I'll go for the Hilton and enjoy that property. ABQ is not really on my list of "To Dos", therefore I'd rather stay up North then.

I've not been to the Hyatt resort but stopped by the Hilton and the adjacent casino last year on my trip to Santa Fe. As has been said it is MUCH closer to SF than the Hyatt. It looked like a beautiful hotel/resort and the pool area was very nice. It was pretty quiet. As much as I love Hyatt, I have a ressie for this summer at this Hilton (I was able to get a good price at the hilton too)
