You even get the 4 suite upgrades, to be used during the 60 day period or after you complete the challenge successfully.
Thanks. I'll give Hyatt till tomorrow, then contact them about this then.

I spoke too soon. It just came through--it also says Diamond now on my account.

Where does it show how many suite upgrades you have? Can't seem to locate that (except in the terms for Diamond status, but I'm assuming there's a place where it states how many suite upgrades you have left?)

Under "My Awards" in your account. Sometimes it will take a few days for that to show up.

So for a Diamond Challenge, you can use the 4 suite upgrades during the 60 day challenge? Are the upgrades only available on paid stays, or can they be used on award stays, too?

Is a Diamond challenge a one time thing or can you do it often?

You can use the 4 suites for any paid future stays. However, if you don't complete the challenge (and haven't applied them anywhere), you will loose them. If you do apply them to a future stay, I believe you keep whatever you have used.

Once in a lifetime thing (usually -- exceptions can be made, but they are rare).

If you start the challenge after March 1, you just get 4 upgrades.
so just to be clear, if i do the diamond challenge and stay the 12 nights within the first 60 days, and don't stay any more nights throughout the year my status will expire on 2/28/13, but if i have 25 more stays/50 nights by 2/28/13 then my status will be extended until 2/28/14?

Correct on the first part. On the second part, not quite correct - you need to have 25 stays / 50 nights in calendar year 2012 (including the 12 nights to complete the challenge) to requalify for status through 2/14. Qualification / requalification is on the calendar year (and not 2/28/xx - that is just the tag on for the status for Hyatt and most other programs to correct any missing stays / flights etc so as to minimize the effect on the member's status).

ah ok so the 12 nights required to complete the status challenge counts towards my 25/50 requirement to requal till 2/14 (as long as i have them completed by 12/31/12)?

When you're upgrading to a suite, how much in advance of your stay should you put in for the upgrade? Does it matter much? A couple of days in advance? A couple of weeks?

Since it is a confirmed upgrade, you should do it as soon as possible since it is based on availability. There were a few cases where I tried to confirm a few weeks out and the hotel didn't have any available.

Noob Alert!

Im SPG Plat thinking of jumping ship to hyatt. Am I unerstanding this correctly that its best to ask for a status match in Jan 2013 (one month before my SPG Plat expiration) so that I get 4 suite upgrades to begin with and then another 4 upon completion of the challenge? Thanks in advance

Agreed - I tried to confirm my recent stay at the GH SAT when first booked (almost a year prior) and at several times with no luck - then tried the day before the stay and got confirmed.
