Post 264 said that award stays now count toward elite status. Is that true?

That post was misinformed - it was refuted in posts 265 - 266.

Hi All,

I am looking for help and advice here.

Unfortunately I don't have any top tier hotel status.

I am planning on Hyatt Diamond this year, and currently have 11 stays planned until the end of April:
- GH TXL
- HR YYZ
- PH YYZ
- HR ORD
- HR TYO
- GH BKK
- HR CDG
- HR YYZ
- PH HAM
- GH DUS
- GH TXL

Plus probably one stay at the HR YUL. I also just checked out of the Andaz Liverpool in London this morning and stayed in the PH ICN in January.

As you can see, that's a lot of stays in many very expensive hotels...

It would be very appreciated to somehow obtain a Diamond challenge/fast track.

I have mid-tier level in some programs, plus my airline status.

Thank you very much!!

Jan

Do you have at least 10 stays in the last year on your Hilton Gold? If so, I believe that Hyatt will issue you a Diamond challenge as discussed in this thread. Hilton Gold, while not top tier is considered relevant for a Diamond challenge. Airline status won't do anything for you. SPG Gold won't do it. Not sure about Fairmont Platinum.

Thank you for your reply. I'll try to write to them. Is there a special or particular email address?
Unfortunately didn't stay a single time at Hilton's last year.

You can try to PM Gold Passport Concierge here on Flyertalk. I would not categorize your upcoming stays as "very expensive" (that would be properties like PH Paris, PH Zurich, PH Moscow, PH Tokyo, PH Sydney), I would say that your upcoming stays are at middle of the road International Full Service Properties.

About two weeks ago, I received this in an email as list of competitors that Hyatt Gold Passport will match:

Hilton Gold VIP or Hilton Diamond VIP
Marriott Gold or Marriott Platinum
Starwood Platinum Preferred Guest
Priority Club Platinum

Hyatt won't match Fairmont Plat. I tried last year and got turned down.

I received a status match last week based upon my PriClub Platinum status - though I also have Hilton Gold (via a promo) that I noted in my request. Diamond status shows in my GP account.

Upon enrollment you will receive a trial Diamond membership for 60 days. To maintain Diamond membership through February 2013, member must complete 12 eligible nights at any Hyatt Hotel & Resort worldwide, Hyatt Place or Hyatt Summerfield Suites within 60 days of enrollment. You will also receive 1,000 bonus points on your first six (6) eligible nights within 60 days. Maximum 6,000 bonus points may be earned. Maximum one trial tier per member.

Also, you don't need 10 stays as Hilton Gold to match to Diamond. I got Hilton Gold for free through the internet signup loophole and have 1 stay in a Hilton, and that was enough to get matched to Diamond.

I also have a fair amount of recent stays in hyatts, about 25 nights last year and 13 so far this year, with enough nights already booked in the next two months to satisfy the challenge. So that may have helped too. But there's at least a data point that 10 nights as Hilton gold is not an absolute requirement.

When you say "status match" do you actually mean and outright match or did they give you a status challenge?
