Got the same email response last week. Also emailed back and forth a few times and the rep said that it is probably better to rent a car than to set up a limo airport transfer (though she can do that for us, but doesnt have prices yet), so we can see more of the island.

Exactly.... take these announcements with a grain of salt and treat advertised opening dates with even more.

Does award and points & cash availability tend to be quite good when a new hotel opens reservations, or is there an initial embargo period?

P+C is dependent on what a property makes available... so we'll have to wait what happens here.

It's mentioned on the GP page for Cat5 properties...
But who knows, we haven't seen any announcements about cat changes for this year and the property hasn't opened.

Rates have been loaded.... a bit ridiculous with €600-800 for a king, and +€1000 for a suite...
No points availability yet, but a Cat5 should give great use of points.
