Which Hyatt in Memphis?

Hi,

I just wanted to get your opinion. Which Hyatt is the best to stay at -- between the ones listed below. (All are in Memphis TN)

1) Hyatt Place Memphis/Primacy Parkway
2) Hyatt Place Memphis/Wolfchase Galleria
3) Hyatt Place Germantown

Thanks!

Yipes - I was just going to say that all Hyatt Places are virtually identical so go by location - but I looked at the property pictures and figured out that the Germantown location is NOT the renovated Amerisuites but one of the "new" purpose built properties!!!

So, if the Germantown location isn't too far out of the way from where you need to be, I'd suggest you try that property - and please make sure that you post a review for us since it would be the first (or one of the first) reviews of a purpose built Hyatt Places.

If Germantown is too far out of the way, of the other two I'd pick by location.

Germantown is indeed the newest in the State of Tennessee - opened in August. I have stayed at the Primacy Parkway but it was convenient to my research - no acceptable restaurant in the (walking) vicinity.

HP Germantown and Primacy Comments

Figured I'd throw in my two cents since I've been hopping between the HP Primacy Place and HP Germantown maximizing the FFN / BWB promos since last October or so. I have around 27 single night stays at both properties currently at 54 Hyatt stays for 2010.

HP Germantown is the newest of the Memphis properties opening in the summer of 2010. The staff is friendly and remember you after you check-in a couple of times. The rooms are the standard HP rooms with glass enclosed stand up showers. The shower heads are the large 8" rain shower heads.

The only question if considering a stay at this location is the location itself. It is a good 25 minute drive to Beale Street/Downtown and is located in an open area with nothing within walking distance. (4 Floors in All)

HP Primacy Place This property was converted to a HP. It has the standard HP rooms as well, but with tubs and the standard shower heads in the bathroom. Additionally, the thermostat is located on the unit itself. Most that I have experienced are loud and only have the Always On or Always Off option. Additionally, when first walking into the rooms, I always get a sense of an almost mildew like smell.

The staff here is also very nice. They also remembered and acknowledged me after a couple of visits which is always just a nice touch.

Location here is right off of Poplar by a number of restaurants. You could feasibly walk to a number of restaurants (PF Changs, Ruth Chris...). The only downside is that there are railroad tracks within 1000' of the hotel. If staying here, I'd recommend asking from a room numbered above 18 to ensure you are on the right side of the hotel away from the tracks. (6 Floors in All)

Totally OT, but is there a Marriott Residence Inn (or similar) property very close to this as well? I remember I stayed there a couple years ago, also near Ruth Chris, but ALSO right next to the train. Worst location for a hotel, ever.

Yes, there are a number of Hotels in this particular area. I've had co-workers stay there at the Marriott Residence Inn, which as I understand it, only has outside access to hotel rooms. I've never stayed there, and have no urge to. The train tracks run right along all of Poplar so any of the nearby hotel brands have this noise problem.

Any recent experiences? I will be starting a long-term project in Memphis and will probably choose between the Primacy and Germantown. I am leaning towards Germantown since it doesn't have the "standalone" A/C unit as indicated above from 6 years ago.

I preferred the Germantown area when I was there.
