YMMV for Diamond amenity??
Have been Diamond for about 3 months now. Have stayed at HR Delhi for 90% of my post-status stays. Couple of stays elsewhere (Bangkok, London etc).
Do not seem to get any real Diamond amenity anywhere. Sometimes some chocolates or apples in room, but assume any elite gets those. Also only get upgrades to RC floor and nothing more (suite). Is this normal? Does Hyatt not have anything more formal (like SPG does)? |
Within the US you are given the option of 1,000 points or F&B amenity. Outside the US it's the latter. Generally a bottle of wine on a work trip for me sits there unopened.
You should receive a club upgrade at all hotels that have one, otherwise a full breakfast at those without. You receive 4 suite upgrade certificates to use, check under goldpassport.com then My Awards then Promotional Awards. Basically make any booking, then call the Diamond line to upgrade. If a suite is available for sale, you should be able to use it. These are confirmed at time of reservation unlike SPG's very uneven policy of upgrades. They are valid for stays up to seven days. |
If there is one big inconsistency within the GPP program, it is definitely the Diamond Amenity outside of the US. It ranges from handwritten letters including fine wines and beautifully decorated cheese and fruit plates over two apples to nada, the latter being the case too often.
It would be a great improvement of the program to offer the 1000 point amenity at international properties as well, according to several dozen check in agents, ~ 90 % take the points anyway... |
And non-Hyatt properties.... The Andaz WeHo gives a ridiculously small box of dried fruits and nuts as the amenity. Lucky if it's 3 mouthfuls.

In Asia at many of the higher end properties where I stay I am never sure whether the amenity I receive is a "Diamond Amenity" or just the normal daily amenity given to every guest.
I could be wrong, but I get the feeling that hotels that normally provide daily amenities tend not to give "special" amenities just because a guest is a Diamond. When these hotels do give more more generous amenities than the usual ones, I tend to think it has more to do with one`s relationship with the particular property than it has to do with Diamond status. |
In India from my experience with all Hyatt properties you just get Diamond Amenity at Park Goa. It is either a big Chocolate Cake or a bottle of Wine.
I recently visited all the 3 Hyatts at Dubai and got Diamond Amenities there as well. Either bottle of Wine or Cake or a basket of Assorted Chocolates. |
I found Park Hyatt in Seoul the worst for getting anything in the way of an amenity, while at the ICN Hyatt I always get a bottle of wine and chocolates! As noted, at NAmerican Hyatts one gets a card and the option of selecting some form of edible amenity, or take 1K points. Opted for points at the Long Beach Hyatt Friday night. Did express check-out and see on my emailed folio that I did not get the W1 code added, and my online statement shows only G2 bonus.

If you dont get an amenity at an international hotel even if you ask, will Hyatt Customer Service give you the points?
