I have an upcoming stay and read the entire thread. I saw some common themes, and thought it would be useful to start a wiki. Please feel free to update or correct anything. I haven't stayed here, so the information is based on the contents of the thread:
- Diamond Suite Upgrades are NOT available at this property.
- Diamond members receive a complimentary full breakfast for up to 4 guests.
- The beds are very firm platform beds. I saw a few posts where a foam pad for the top of the bed was requested.
- Docked cruise ships that may obstruct the view from the Harbour view rooms.
- The hotel is 4 stories.
The concierge desk offers a weekly tour of the Rocks on Saturday.
Link that shows when cruise ships will be docked opposite the hotel:

For us, using the four free nights a great deal vs $3900 for the rooms.... even if not the best views. Still hoping we will get lucky when we check in.

Yeah, but you are fooling yourself that there aren't any decent properties in Sydney for a fraction (well, quite a bit less) of the price.
Try the Radisson Blu (on points if you have them), decent hotel and a fraction of the price. I feel when you get a subpar room at the PH it's worth even less than half of what they are charging. Your biggest value will be the breakfast :-).

Not fooling myself at all....
The Radisson will probably be our place for the other four nights.

I am sure it is just a fluke as our previous 9 stays have been great. But I have a feeling this may be a long running saga. You have one of those stays where it starts badly and doesn't get better! Breakfast was not only slow,we sat down 9:45 and we needed to be ready for an 11 o'clock pickup which we only just made, but I didn't even bother eating my main as the food was so bad.
Maybe we are using up all the bad luck for you?
Maybe we are using up all the bad luck for you?
Not sure what the issue with the inability to get a view preference/guest room type on your stay.
I am aware that this is high season for the hotel and the property remains popular year round.
However if it mattered to me I would bring it up while in house and at least get clarity even if they are sold out or find out when I might be able to get a room change.
If the hotel was full and I was unhappy I wouldn't hesitate asking for their cooperation and moving elsewhere as Sydney has a number of wonderful properties.
The highly professional and personable team here is what in my eyes makes Hyatt proud the world over.
Historically over the past years the hotel has always made an impressive and reasonable effort to upgrade Diamonds even if suites are/have been sadly totally out of the question for some time.
For me the Park Hyatt Sydney is one of the most wonderful leading experiences in the world from the hospitality and the accommodations side perspective.
Regarding the dining experience on the other hand
Its always been a pleasure to sit in their beautiful dining room. They have always been very nice and hospitable to me.
I'm convinced on occasion that some folks are so wowed by the view that their taste buds are impaired
I've also noticed over the years they don't ask guests what they like or don't like about the meal.
They leave it to the chef to figure out what they think is good. They may ask did you enjoy but the conversation typically ends there.
So they really don't know how to improve what issues may be there.
My guess is its probably less than a fluke in what you are experienced overall
While some of the main breakfast dishes can be good the level of inconsistency has been extremely disappointing for both breakfast and dinner. Side dishes as is the mains are all over the map
Its simply light years away from the skill set, quality and amazing execution of say Grand Hyatt Tokyo in my personal view point.
It appears to be some International/Global direction that their chefs seems to go with combined with some local product and it fails for my taste on the Australian, European and American level with some exceptions here or there.
Focusing on breakfast while I have received for example an outstanding omelet one day it can be dry and overcooked the next day
Some of the other side dishes/baking and produce are also just incredibly poor/out of season/bad standard in both variety and quality
Other area hotels and restaurants less notable seem to outshine the PH Sydney in food product
Everything is always presented beautifully
The dining room customer service has had its highs and lows. When they get busy you may need a lot of patience or have time to spare.
For me the Park Hyatt Sydney is one of the most wonderful experiences in the world from the hospitality and the accommodations side perspective
The dining while highly subjective has been for some time a work in progress with rotating chefs and the inability to shine and be a true destination restaurant other than the view
I want to support this hotel 100% .Its my hope they can work out the bumps in the road to bring the food and service
up to the world class standards of the hotel and team.
Cheers

Bottle of wine and some cheese which we have had previousl. Unfortunately the cheese was delivered while we were out so the room stank when we got back. So put outside overnight.
The saga continues this morning. 15 minutes to be asked for breakfast order. Coffee took over 10 minutes and the OJ never turned up. We have obviously been spoilt previously.

My partner and I are using our free nights here in November... for the last four nights of our anniversary trip... and we got booked into the "Park King" rooms... nothing else available. They will not even offer these rooms up for sale... hoping something better becomes available... but not holding out hope.

I see there's quite a bit of recent interest in this property, and since I find some recent experiences to be complete opposites of mine I think it might be helpful to share my own.
My partner and I are here for a week on an all points booking. We arrived around 1pm on March 1 and were escorted to The Bar and kindly asked to enjoy "anything we wished" while they finished our room. This was 2 hours before check in, so the stay began excellently. We were later escorted to our room -- a City Harbor view on the third floor with a very nice partial opera view -- and advised that a bottle of champagne would be arriving later as a Diamond welcome amenity. A very nice plate of fresh fruits and a card were also waiting in the room.
Every morning my breakfasts have been superb. The staff remembers us; they remember my coffee and juice preferences; and they remember what I told them we were doing in Sydney the prior day--genuinely asking if we enjoyed ourselves. We have also enjoyed room service and the tasting menu at the Dining Room, as well as drinks at The Bar. The food and service have been great each time. This PH ranks alongside the PH Tokyo in my opinion, and worlds above PH Vendome or other US properties. I'm sad to hear some people aren't having a great experience here. It's hard to believe things could be so drastically different at the same time in the same place. Must say I'm pleased to be me!

So we finished our three stay day and while I have to say that I love the hotels location almost everything else let it down. In 2013 when we stayed we were greeted by every member of staff by name, asked how we were enjoying our stay and could they help in any way? 2014 -nada - the only staff that interacted with us were the bell guys and the concierges - everyone else - no eye contact - no "Hi" - nothing. Every morning asked - "have you eaten here before?" - same staff!
All three breakfasts were unmemorable - day one - extremely poor service and inedible food - the restaurant was busy but they should staff accordingly - day two - restaurant very quiet - didnt bother with a la carte just stuck to buffet - only enough OJ left for 1 glass - total fruit on offer was 7 pieces of strawberry and a spoonful of blueberries - left after 10 minutes to get breakfast at one of the pubs on George Street. Day three - three tables occupied - asked for bacon and eggs and went to get some fruit. Hadnt even touched my fruit when hot breakfast delivered - waiter waited until I moved my fruit to one side and dropped plate on table - eggs were overcooked and inedible so left them - another quick breakfast.
At checkout the FD Manager appeared and asked if we had enjoyed our "special stay". I was tempted to leave it but my wife had other ideas and gave him both barrels (in a very polite way) He looked like he had been sucker punched - apologised and promised to get back to us.
And to end it all my paid stay has not appeared on my GP account just the bar bill for cocktails one night.
We had intended to enjoy our stay at the PH but to be honest we didnt spend much time there. We changed our plans to have lunch and dinner there and enjoyed great meals and service elsewhere in the city.
I don't know what has gone wrong at the PH but this wasn't a 5 Star experience - I have received much better service at a Hyatt Place - and a better breakfast!

My last stay was fantastic in every way and inspiring
From the outstanding concierge, butler and front of the house
Everyone I interacted with was polished professional and friendly.
Yes there have been challenges in the restaurant with changing team members, chefs and managers. Menu too has been a work in progress too
IMHO its important to do the basics right besides a reasonably good omelet which they do well. Its the accompaniments that make the difference and of course attention to details/service and all else in or out of a Park Hyatt.
The really high expectations are set here by the unusually high pricing bar for revenue or redemption.
Every day is a different show in every hotel.
My last stay couldn't have been better.Every day is a different show with the same team or a different team and I certainly wont pass judgment as its been months since I have been here and always leave the hotel typically with a sense of gratitude about the property and my relationship with Hyatt
