I just thought I'd point out the Hotel Deals forum has been moved to the Hotels and Places to Stay sub-forum.
I'm sure most of us access this thread through our Subscribed Threads page, but if you've navigated your way to the main Miles & Points page, as I just did, you won't find this forum near the top anymore. You need to scroll 3/4 of the way down past the chain hotel forums.
And while I'm here, I'd like to thank the handful of members who help maintain the wiki. I sincerely appreciate your efforts. This thread is on the cusp of 3 million views. Thank you for making it the success that it is.

Orbitz limits you on how many time you can use the rate. So what I did was created 3 accounts with different emails to use that rate, in combination with the 16% cheaptickets rate.

I rarely, if ever, make more than one reservation in a space of a week to use the same code more than once, but I just did. I was able to use TAKEMEAWAY twice in the space of 5-10 minutes. Or is it a suspected number of times one account can use the same code? Why is duplicate code use a YMMV thing?

The other day I was not able to use the previous code anymore since it "had been used too many times". If I recall correctly, I have used it at least twice over the course of the past months. So the limit might not be very clear. Or alternatively it might be based on the total number of purchases by all Orbitz customers?! Like that there is a limit of say, 100.000 purchases with the code applied, for example.
Create a new account and Voila, mystery solved.

Kind of annoying how Hotels.com tries to prevent you from getting portal referral credits by requiring you to "click on this email" and I did notice that was true last time when they sent me a 15% unique code (wouldn't work any other way) but I was able to use the GROUNDHOGDAY code successfully yesterday clicking through a cashback portal. Now we'll see if they pay. Don't know about you guys but I so often have payout problems with cashback on hotels that I just expect it likely won't work for one reason or another and am pleased when it does. I often book many months ahead of time and by the time my stay is completed, I can't possibly remember which portal I used and remember to go back and check and then follow up later if it doesn't post. Life's too short and my brain is too crowded.

I don't know if this works or not, because I never remembered to check my cashback history. Click through the email, then in a separate tab, click through your portal, use the code and complete your res. I've done that when the input field box wouldn't accept the promo code by only clicking through the cashback portal.
Does that make sense to anyone but me? If anyone tries it and remembers to check cb, please let us know.

If you have an Amex card, don't forget to check for Hotels.com offers. All of my Amex cards have $10 off $50 Hotels.com gift card offer available. Use multi open browser trick to save the offer to all of your Amex cards.
You can buy multiple $50 gift cards, using a different Amex card to pay for each of them. Combine them all into a primary gift card on their site. You can only pay with one gift card when you check out.
This stacks with the GROUNDHOGDAY promo code.
This saved me quite a few bucks on an upcoming weekend getaway. I hope it will work for you too. ^
