Tropicana: 735.63 for 5 nights - I have Hilton gold benefits here.
Ballys: 700.03 for 5 nights - free breakfast.
Excalibur: $656.71 for 5 nights - I Have MLife gold here and I would be in the contemporary tower.

The nights are 1/5 - 1/10 and I want to stay on the strip. I found non strip hotels for much cheaper, however, since this is my first trip to Vegas I'd like it to be on the strip.

So, has anyone ever stayed at any of these hotels? If so, which would you recommend?
Don't let the free breakfast at Ballys enter into your decision making process. It's pretty awful.

I go to LAS annually for a sales meeting. The EX is dumpy. I've stayed at Bally's multiple times. While it doesn't have any of the fancy Vegas rooms circa 2014 (think Aria or Cosmo), you won't find much to complain about.
Good center strip location.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm leaning towards Bally's now, based on what I've heard about the other two.

Was at MGM a couple of weeks ago using the Royal Crown offer. I used it last year with no issues at the spa however now (according to the front desk clerk) its works for just f/b only. No asking/telling number, the offer was on my account and I was good to go. Paid $174 and got $150 credit. Thanks Flyertalk folks

This wont apply to everyone...I am an earned Platinum (via play) and I was poking around on the TR website today. I never book my rooms via the offers section. I simply log in and select the dates I wish to stay (do not put in an offer code). I snagged The Linq for next June (long weekend) completely comped and since I am platinum I will not have to pay resort fees. Never been to Vegas (AC enthusiast) and am very excited about staying at the recently renovated Linq.

If you plat at any of the CET props be sure to try this "trick" on their website before looking elsewhere.

hey guys - 12 of us are going to Vegas in Oct. I was looking at the 2br suite at the Bellaggio and they quoted me a price of $2800 for 3 nights. If we can crash 6/suite that would be a pretty decent per person cost and of course the chance to stay at an awesome suite!

I couldn't find the 2br suite online - had to call them to get a quote. Also couldn't find any other top hotels with a 2br suite.

If anyone has done this before, any tips on getting the best price? Is there a hospitality agent I could be talking to get a better rate and/or other perks? I have MLife Platinum (through Hyatt Diamond) if that matters at all.

Thanks much!

Mlife Hyatt promo

I received an invitation to register for a Hyatt/Mlife promo (I don't think it's targeted):

http://hyatthotels.hyatt.com/content...gas-yours.html

"Make Vegas Yours! Earn up to 3,000 Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points after every 3 nights you stay at participating properties in Las Vegas from August 1 through December 30, 2014. Simply register by October 15, 2014.

After every three nights you stay at the participating hotels within each grouping, you can earn:

1k at Hyatt Place, Excalibur, Luxor
2k at Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, The Mirage, Monte Carlo
New York, New York, THEhotel, The Signature, Vdara
3k at Aria, Bellagio
"

It's a nice sweetener if it combines with other promos. I do have a few questions, though. First, it sounds like if you mixed and matched levels, you'd get nothing, though I'd hope that you'd just get the amount for the lowest tier.

Second, I'm wondering whether it will combine with the Crown & Anchor promo. I "think" so. The T&C say that it works so long as you either pay at the hotel (as is the case here), book through Hyatt.com or Hyatt call center. That's my interpretation. Here are the exact terms: "For the purpose of this promotion, Eligible Nights at participating M life resorts are limited to those nights during the Promotion Period for which (i) the payment is made directly to a participating M life resorts, (ii) the stay is booked through hyatt.com, or (iii) the stay is booked through a Hyatt Worldwide Reservation Center. Award Nights shall not constitute an Eligible Night. Hyatt Gold Passport members will only receive Eligible Night credit for their room, regardless of the number of paid rooms."

The way I read it, this promo only works if you book through Hyatt, either on Hyatt website or Hyatt call center.

So you read it is i AND (ii or iii)? I read it as i OR ii OR iii. I guess it's not explicit.

I believe that it says on the Hyatt page that you get Hyatt credit for stays booked on any MGM website or the Hyatt website (though this promo could follow a different rule).

In Las Vegas, a lot of suites are available only by phone and the fanciest suites, such as those where celebrities stay, are not offered online or by calling the general reservations number.

Do you and and your friends plan on wagering a lot of money in the casino? If so, it'd be a good idea to get a casino host. This tends to work better if you already have some playing history. A good host can help you get access to nicer suites, clubs, etc.

For MGM properties, the "player's club" call center is called VIP Services. Unlike the general reservations number, each property has its own VIP Services desk which tends to be open a couple hours longer than typical business hours. These phone numbers can be found within the individual offers posted on your MLife account. There is no fee to use these call centers, though rates may vary from the promotions on your online account. Do note that online rates vary depending on which offer you select or if you simply use the booking widget without selecting an offer.

Do note that it can be significantly cheaper to book multiple standard rooms or basic suites than booking one deluxe suite. If booking a very deluxe suite, note that there's a small chance that you might end up with a different type of suite if there are enough VIP guests desiring the of suite you originally reserved.
