It was Expedia. Some who got a verbal re-confirmation over the phone got to go, rest had to be contended with the reservations being "successfully" cancelled by Expedia.

The Expedia/Hilton Osaka mistake was alive for a couple of hours, IIRC.
Still working on many dates, FWIW . . .
And I have stayed in this hotel and let me assure you, it is very nice. Near train station, limousine bus station to Kansai, lots of shopping around the area, and the executive floor is very nice, too.

Since this is not a pre-paid reservation, you can cancel it for free if the rate gets multiplied by 100.
