Aloft Haiyang (China) $20-$30 all in

Not the most spectacular property but a great rate for the next days/weeks.

Prepaid is $20 all in (195 CNY) and flexible/breakfast rates are sub $30.
Later dates are in the 1200 CNY rate so this is a great rebate.

That's their usual rate, I believe... at least those were the rates about a month ago

Away from major cities, this doesn't seem like an extraordinary rate for an aloft in China.

Will this show up as a stay when using SPG Keyless (property is supported) even if I don't actually use the room?

Chinese hotels typically require identification at check-in.

You still have to physically check in there. At least, you need someone with your id to check in.

Um - presumably someone with your id that LOOKS like you. Ideal if that person is ACTUALLY you.

You need to seriously reconsider your exchange rates.

Just how bad are alofts in China?

I've got a trip to china in April and would love to stay in SPG locations if I can.

Comparing to most US SPG properties, China wins with hands down, period.

I stayed at a brand new one in Dongguan and I would say they are pretty good. They are much better than a 4 Points in the US. In terms of the room I would say at least comparable to a four star hotel.

OP's conversion rates are off but the property has had rates as low as Y125 in the low season. Has to be right up there for one of the cheapest SPG properties in the world. It ain't easy to get there though!

This Aloft, together with the Shangjie one, are definitely two of the cheapest SPG properties around, with rates routinely under $30. Both are very hard to get to, but the rooms/hardware are decent once you get there. If you can work from your laptop or otherwise remotely, it's not a bad place to spend a month -- cheaper than staying at home and you'll get free breakfast and a bunch of SPG EQNs

I haven't personally stayed there, but one might be tempted should one's career or personal life hit a new low
