Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik, a gorgeous property,$78 a night November and December

This hotel often goes for $300 a night.

Maybe during the summer season, probably not during the autumn/winter...

Agreed. But it seems members of this forum have now started posting these "deals", when it was $8 more for example. So this is a steal.

Yes, the recent "deals" in this forum seem to be just low season rates. In my view a (normal) off-season rate does not qualify as a deal and should not be posted as such in this forum - just my opinion...

Maybe some non-European posters just do not understand the difference between high (summer) and low (winter) seasons for most European coastal hotels, where a 70% discount to the summer rates is usually not a deal, but a regular price

Hotel is across the street from the airport bus drop-off.
It's across the street from the main entrance to Old Town.

I don't think it has anything to do with "non-European" or European coastal hotels. Take a look at the recent thread about Myrtle Beach.

really what's wrong with people posting these deals. Even if they are not great deals to many people and in the off season, etc, its not like anything else is being posted. The hotels forum would be empty. I enjoy seeing these posts and there's actually been quite a few good ones posted in my opinion.

The problem is when they are misleading because (1) the post includes a comparison price that is unrealistic; (2) it doesn't reflect that tons of other properties are comparably priced -- some of which are better "deals" -- because it's a not a deal, but how much hotels in city X cost in month Y ; or (3) they are posted to generate traffic to a particular website.

This morning I found 3 "deals" in a 4 minute period by going onto Kayak and inserting a seasonal city and an off-season month. At that rate, I could post 200 of these "deals" every day simply by going on Kayak. This forum is not a Kayak substitute.

There's a method to madness. I was trying to make a point.

Looking to stay in a few weeks, rates are almost $300 per night

Is it worth it? The Sheraton Dubrovnik doesn't open until Sept 1 and I'll be there a few days prior. Heck of a rate but if it's a superb hotel... any reviews would be appreciated
