Interesting. It's a good deal, but also factor in opp cost of experiencing a higher luxury hotel, if you have miles to burn.

Also this deal becomes better if you have venture miles or the barclay miles!

The list of participating hotels is very limited this time.

I think some hotel cannot do such big discount that's why the hotels are limited.

Not a very big deal. On booking.com or similar websites you can find lower prices than the ones proposed on the slh website with this private sale. So the money you can save with this offer is not actually the 50% for a two nights stay, but merely a 20-30%, depending on the properties.
Anyway if you like the slh hotels is better than nothing...

But I'm only comparing to other similar SLH 2 for 1 and 3 for 2 sales: I have seen both with many more of the hotels offering the promotion.

My guess is actually that this has more to do with seasonality - for many parts of the world, May-June is already shoulder (or even high) season and they just don't need to reduce prices as much. By contrast, November-mid-December and mid-January-February are low in many areas where SLH is very well represented and I think this is why the sales for stays during those periods are actually far more "populated".

you have to watch SLH and mrmrssmith because they do this regularly. obviously quality of deal varies (each time) but it can be good.
