[EXPIRED] $100 off Hotel Bookings on Orbitz Using VISA Checkout

Orbitz is launching a promotion in conjunction with VISA promoting ‘VISA Checkout’ on Cyber Monday. They’re giving out $100 off your hotel booking of $100 or more for a total of $1,000,000 which is essentially 10,000 bookings.

Offer link: http://www.orbitz.com/mktg/visa-checkout/

Here’s the catch – You must have a VISA card and sign up for VISA checkout and the promotion starts at 12:01AM Pacific Time. Spend $100 or more on a hotel room booked on Orbitz.com and receive a $100 discount off the listed price when paying with Visa Checkout. Must enter promo code: VISACHECKOUT to get this discount.

This deal starts at 12:01AM Pacific Time on 12/1/2014 valid for hotel bookings between December 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015.

I've written a step by step guide on how to take advantage of this promotion: http://first2board.com/pointssummary...visa-checkout/

It seems the app says 10am CST and not midnight PST

Richklhs Dec 1, 2014 1:11 am

10 min past stated start time of 12:01 PST and still a no go. "This promo code is valid for bookings made between Dec 1, 2014 and Dec 8, 2014. Please continue booking or try your promo code again later. "

teriyaki Dec 1, 2014 1:22 am

Just tried, not working. Stay must be between DEC 1 and 8 2014 error message pops up

flyinghigh77 Dec 1, 2014 1:44 am

AndrewT84 Dec 1, 2014 2:13 am

whackyjacky Dec 1, 2014 2:29 am

Yup. I did online chat.

Looks a bit messed up:

I can't sign up for a checkout account. Keeps saying not available. I'm in SGN for another few weeks, so also tried via VPN to appear in the US in case that was it. Anyone else having trouble with signing up for a checkout account?

mikeS60 Dec 1, 2014 3:23 am

Did anyone register with non-US VISA? Can't also proceed with checkout

I'm currently in France. I signed up for a Visa Checkout Account with no problem, using my airbnb's wifi.

I've already used the VisaCheckout, actually, having booked a hotel in Copenhagen. (without the benefit of this promotion, as it was a sub$100 rate. )

Orbitz Garbage

After getting up at 4a.m.to use this promotion, no luck on the computer and called their toll free number. Was transferred FOUR times only ultimately to arrive at an agent who said they were "having issues with the promotion" and that it wasn't working and he didn't know when it would be working.

Time to cancel the ORBITZ account. These ripoff clowns shouldn't be allowed to get away with this kind of garbage without some kind of consumer retaliation:td:

Well if it's 10am CST, it will be another 3 hours before the code is available to use. I checked at 12am EST too.

7:45am MST, also getting the "error"

"Promo code eligible between Dec 1-8" etc.

Tried 2 different cities/countries/dates if it makes any difference.

or can we book the hell out of it, lol :)

ski Dec 1, 2014 8:06 am

Book a qualifying standalone, pre-paid hotel for $100 or more for a stay occurring between December 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015 via Orbitz using Visa Checkout as the payment method and promo code VISACHECKOUT, and receive $100 off your booking.

Why the Dec1-8 dates coming up as only valid?

You have to book between Dec 1 - 8. The promo isn't even live yet - just under an hour more.

CDKing Dec 1, 2014 8:14 am

I signed up for visa check out through BofA who is giving away $10 gift card for enrolling so makes it a better deal. Hopefully good rate will be available for the dates I'm looking at although not a fan of the prepaid rooms though since I may cancel.

jxd Dec 1, 2014 8:16 am

Not available outside US/AU/CAN ?

cheukiecfu Dec 1, 2014 9:02 am

yb8 Dec 1, 2014 9:04 am

N_Phoenix Dec 1, 2014 9:05 am

jjakobv84 Dec 1, 2014 9:11 am

Just booked for two rooms in Switzerland. Received $200 off so $100 per room on a single booking

macfadsj Dec 1, 2014 9:20 am

Just used the promo to confirm a $38 room at the Stanford Court in SFO

CDKing Dec 1, 2014 9:22 am

Sweet no minimum stay. I booked a $48 room at Club Quarters Grand Central for WineDO

emofeng Dec 1, 2014 9:29 am

If i'm staying for 2 nights. Is it possible to make 2 separate reservations for $100 off each night?

redreeper Dec 1, 2014 9:33 am

Orbitz just called me, then hung up on me ...

macfadsj Dec 1, 2014 9:33 am

Don't think one person can book two consecutive nights, but if there are two of you, why not open two seperate Visa Checkout accounts.

Or perhaps if you have two seperate visa cards, you can open two different visa checkout accounts and apply both on consecutive nights.

I did exactly that using my visa for one night and my wife's visa for the second night.
Not seeing a lot of nicer brand name hotel chains. But some of the local 4* hotel choices seem nice (NYC area)

tcook052 Dec 1, 2014 9:35 am

Just tried for HKG and error response was 'not eligible for destination' but don't recall reading in the T&C there were defined locations. Or was I misreading?

AndrewT84 Dec 1, 2014 9:36 am

http://www.orbitz.com/shop/couponTer...entId=popup650

T&Cs for future reference in case:

Offer is valid for a limited time only beginning 10:00 AM CST on December 1, 2014 and is only available when displayed on www.orbitz.com. Available on desktop, mobile web, and on Orbitz mobile apps that include Visa Checkout as a payment option. Book a qualifying standalone, pre-paid hotel for $100 or more for a stay occurring between December 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015 via Orbitz using Visa Checkout as the payment method and promo code VISACHECKOUT, and receive $100 off your booking. Most major chains are excluded; to find participating hotels look for the "PROMO CODE ELIGIBLE" message on Orbitz.com hotel listings. You must enter your promotion code prior to completing your booking to receive the savings; promotion codes cannot be applied to bookings previously made. Limit one discount per hotel room and one promotion code per booking. Discounts are not redeemable for cash for any reason. Promotion codes are non-transferable, not for resale, and cannot be combined with other offers. Any attempt at fraud will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Void where prohibited, taxed or restricted. Orbitz reserves the right to change or limit the promotion in its sole discretion.

I'm actually staying for 3 nights...maybe I'll just fork up full price for the 3rd night? Thanks for helping this new traveler!
