How long does it take for purchased points to post? Has anybody tried that route to book a more expensive hotel.

This is clearly a real promotion given all the restrictions.

I booked points n cash option. The 1st screen showed 2k points + MYR280++. Just click on book now, it comes to the page with points slider. I just slide to max and it turn 11785 points + MYR 30.60. Just book it and done.

24 hours. I purchased 5000 points in order to book Melia Dubai for New Year's Eve. At around 17k in points vs. 340€ cash it was a no brainer.

Just a data point. Booked a Melia in Germany for 12k points and 13 euro a few days ago for one night. The reservation is still there.

Good luck!

It was reported upthread that it looks like Melia exhausted the points allotted for the promotion. Based on the homepage I see when I go to their website this sounds accurate. Those of us who got in, received the 12,000 immediately - and can apply to a points and cash booking. They didn't magically appear when choosing the points and cash option.

12000 points not deducted

I have made a cash&points reservation for July (refundable) but the points are not deducted from my account? Is it possible that they will claw all the points back at the end of April and I will still need to come up with the extra 10000 points?
