This hotel's pricing model is quite a bit different from the strip hotels in Vegas. The other hotels have much much more discounted rates on offpeak weekdays and then very high rates on weekends. The Westin doesn't seem to pay attention to those in setting its own rates. On weekends, it can be a bargain, while it's overpriced on weekedays.
I have no idea why they think this model will work.

We had the all american casino guide one year, and tried to hit up the casino cause they had a $25 match play. The casino itself wasn't even open when we went there, and it was so dead in the hotel. There was 0 vegas atmosphere, and it's a little off the strip as well. I'd much stay at Bills/Flamingo/Bally's before staying here, and it'd be cheaper as well.

I stayed at this Westin back in August and, while it was a block or two off the strip, it was a great way to pick up a couple of Starwood nights toward Platinum for 2012 at a decent price.
The hotel has a casino, but it's pretty dead. The best bet is to just stay at the Westin to get the stay/night credit and then walk to other casinos for the real Vegas action.

I used to practically live at this place, years ago. Don't know what it's like now, but I can tell you that Plat treatment is minimal, the restaurant blows, and the resort fees feel like a holdup.
OTOH, the casino is neat (tiny, but friendly), and the location, just off the strip, is great if you want a little peace in between all the craziness.
