$50 hotel for only $10??

https://www.saveology.com/deals/nati...gift-card-deal

Saw a similar post and came across this. How does this work? Has anyone used these before?

I've tried them and they were good for some items but one time I didn't get the voucher in my account like I was supposed to. Also if they are selling "Saveology dollars" I would say to avoid the purchase as they can't be used for everything. I found out the hard way.

Writing to them to correct an error can be a pain.

I'll pass. If you go for it, best of luck.

Limit 2 per household • You must book online at www.myhotelgiftcard.comMinimum two (2) night stay at participating hotels • Subject to availability as shown on website at time of booking • You must pay balance with major credit card at time of booking • Penalties may apply if you cancel your booking; these will be revealed before you book • May not be combined with any other offer • This card is not redeemable for cash and no refunds are provided for any unused portion of the card. You have no vested right or interest in the value of this card • This card is non-transferable and non-assignable • This $50 Hotel Gift Card expires one year from date of issuance except where otherwise required by law • The person who activates this card must be the traveler and must be at least 18 years of age (at least 21 for reservations at properties with casinos) • This card may not be combined with or applied towards other certificates, promotions, special offers, special rate programs or gift card or any other offer whatsoever • It is the responsibility of the traveler to review and verify the accuracy of all reservations, documents and other correspondence • The traveler must bring a check-in voucher supplied at the time of booking in order to check in to the property • This deal cannot be purchased with Saveology Dollars •
(bolding mine)

Huge red flags with what I bolded above. Good luck staying two nights for $50 or less, and you can only use one gift card per booking. I'll pass!

2 night minimum, lame selection, equally lame prices.

I compared Hooters in Vegas, 9/9 - 9/11 .... $64 total WITH the discount from this deal, or I can pay $60 on Kayak without the deal... so it's actually more money for the same room using this card.

edit to add: some higher priced locations did net a small discount - just use the preview feature before you buy it

Thanks, everyone. You pretty much confirmed how I felt, but wanted to check.

omg avoid.. i got burnt by the previous deal.
If you want i have some from the previous saveology deal and theres like a few days left to use them

Yeah, this hotel thing looks bad.

I did just pick up a $15 Staples GC at half off,
and two AMC tix for $8.
So SAVEOLOGY may not always be bad, but might be !
If they don't mail the stuff, AMEX can fix it up.

Hotel Gift Card

I once had a bunch of the gifts cards. Basically useless! Bad hotel selection. Better redeem without the discount from somewhere else.

And also,

you can use demo as user name and demo as password to access www.myhotelgiftcard.com and check the rate.
