Welcome.

So you joined FT to find deals, book them, and have them get pulled?

There is plenty of history that some are honored and some are not.

Just got the rejection email

Dear Mr. Tmpy,

We are pleased to learn that you chose to book a stay at the Hilton New York today. We have recently learned that between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. (EST) today there was a system error that affected the rate that was offered to you. The current rate for the dates that you booked with the Hilton New York today is $409 per night for a One bedroom Suite, plus tax. In light of the system error, and to apologize for any inconvenience you may experience, we wish to extend you a 50% discount on this current rate, making the rate for your reservation $195 per night plus tax.

We also wish to extend you either: (1) a 25% discount at our food and beverage outlets during your stay (for parties of up to 4 people); or (2) a 25% discount on our best available rate for one future room reservation during the period of January 1, 2012-March 31, 2012. Please e-mail me the discount option you would prefer [(1) or (2)], and we will make the necessary arrangements for you to take advantage of this offer.

We thank you for choosing to stay at the Hilton New York and we look forward to welcoming you upon your arrival in January.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly regarding any questions.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Agnes Torres

I would personally say this property handled it fairly well. They responded quickly and decisively with a fairly substantial discount for now and the future. And nobody had to make travel arrangements hoping to get it honored. What say y'all?

Just got my email.

When the mistake ended, the rate went to $199.

Interesting that now that an email is going out, they will give you 50% off the $259 rate.

Lame Hilton!

If you are going to give 50%, make it the original non jacked up rate.

I just called and Hilton will not honor this rate.
I remember a couple of years ago, Hyatt had the same problem. Although eventually they did not honor the rate($0), but their customer service is way better than Hilton. Hilton's customer service is just rude, rude.

Why would you call in the middle of the night when all you are going to get is a CS agent who has no power.
Sometimes it is better to think a while before acting.
Of course they will say no; you need to be communicating by e-mail and with someone with authority.

You will probably have made it harder for everyone else.
Bet you call on mistake airfares too.

You called on a mistake rate and then post it in FT?

The mistake was discovered and the rate pulled in about 30 minutes after it was posted on FT (and other placed). Everyone (including myself) have been getting the e-mails about the mistake.

Now it is the time for negotiating an acceptable resolution. There is no way to negotiate without actually communicating with Hilton.
