Thumbs down

Poor customer service comes again. Got an email from them as following:

Dear Mr Dennis_PEK,

Greeting from Ovolo Hong Kong!

We have received your reservation with us via our website on XX-XX December 2011 (X nights). We noticed that the room rate was incorrect due to system error.

Please note room rate for one 2-bedroom Suite as below:

XX-XX December 2011 inclusive: HK$1080 plus 10% service charge per night
XX-XX December 2011: HK$1180 plus 10% service charge per night

We will cancel the booking (#RSXXXXXXXX) that you have made via our website and make a new reservation for you.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused to you.

Meanwhile, we look forward to welcoming you to Ovolo, 256 Tung Chau Street soon!

Best Regards,
Estee Tong
Leasing Coordinator
Ready to study HK customer laws to have them honor the rate, especially when they failed to rectify or even show any goodwill.

Good luck with that. HK consumer law is not the most consumer friendly.

No, they merely booked you in. You still have the option to cancel.

Actually, with the way rates are going in HK, this is quite a bargain even with the actual rates. Good luck in finding anything else cheaper.

I got the Cosmo Hotel near Wan Chai for less than US$100 in mid-August. It's $118/nt a/i mid-September right now, with 20% off for 2 nights, so about the same as I paid.

Be careful, I've stayed at the cosmo before at that price. Good luck with the frosted glass that looks out to the graveyard next to it...

Cosmo is not a bad hotel for the price. A little noisy. Bring some earplugs. Rosedale is a bit better.

They offered me an upgrade to the front for a fee, then put me there anyway when I declined. The same thing happened to me at the Cosmopolitan when I stayed there. Anyway, I ain't afraid a' no ghosts!

These hotels are not terrible. They are usually a little bit smaller and a little bit noisier. Not terrible but worth the savings. I usually stay at Cosmo, Rosedale and trying the Empire in two weeks.

Dont even need to bother, I was wrapped by my new job so just left it aside until today when my outlook notice popped. Called them to confirm the status - cancelled.

The sun also rises in HK and my cc was not charged, another normal night in this warm winter at QC.

That's definitely poor feng shui. Eek!
