J.W. Marriott or Conrad?
We've always stayed in the Conrad and really enjoyed it. This time traveling with 1 teen, 1 senior, 6 year old and her parents (Wife and I). We've loved the pool and always get lounge access at the Conrad (We're both Platinum) and usually get upgraded rooms. The senior traveling with us is a Marriott gold.
Any help is appreciated! |
We stayed in the Marriott last month and unless they've finished the work going on in the apartments over the hotel, and the noise that permeated the next 15 floors down then avoid it. The noise was awful!! Plus they moved club floor rooms down 10 floors so you got standard (small) rooms with lounge access for club (larger) room price.
I wouldn't rush back to the Marriott. |

Like any hotel, it's where you're located. I spent a week at the JW last month, along with a couple of co-workers and none of us heard any construction noise. The check in staff mentioned it, but said it wouldn't be a problem where we were located. We were spread out between the high 20-s and low 30's (floor wise).

The Conrad is in the same neighborhood as the JW Marriott. Barring the potential noise, and since you have higher status with Conrad, your upgrade chance might be better.

Just stayed at the Conrad yesterday and it was delightful. Aside from slow service in the lobby bar, everything was spot-on. Upgraded to a suite, breakfast in the lounge was excellent, free wireless internet, great views, etc. Would not hesitate to go back. This was an award stay, not sure if that makes any difference. |
I've stayed in both many times. Although they are both attached to Pacific Place, the Conrad has more rooms with great views due to the shape of the hotel and surrounding buildings. Also, its rooms are bigger. Still, I'm often able to get better rates at the JW. While it's not as good as the Conrad, it is a solid hotel with excellent executive lounge offerings.
Bottom line: I prefer the Conrad, but if I can get a room $100/night cheaper (perhaps thru the use of bonus bucks), I'll stay at the Marriott. |
The pool is better at the Marriott (and Shangri-La). At the Conrad, you're swimming on display to the restaurant users.
View can be better at the Conrad, if you're high enough. Marriott is somewhat closer to MTR. Rooms at Marriott have a less rectangular shape. Marriott lobby is better, though the multi-levels are somewhat confusing. With kids, I'd choose the Marriott (and buy a rubber duck/bear at the Conrad store). |
Definitely the Conrad, esp. on company accounts. The rooms are beautiful and the views are wonderful. I could have sat at my window gazing out across the harbour for hours.
If paying out your own pocket, probably the JW or the MO (not that MO is cheaper). |
