HK Harbor View- Nothing to see!

Of my recent visits to Hong Kong since last summer, I see nothing from my "harbor view" 5* hotel room... it appears that the US$50 premium for "harbor view" only gets me a smoky screen day or night. Is the air pollution really that severe? the suffix "SAR" seems to suggest something related to Severe Acute Respiration!
Anyone out there has been lucky enough to "enjoy" the harbor view there these days??? I wonder whether the "view room" premium can still be justified!
Also, room rates for this year seem to be significantly higher than before, are we paying more while getting less? Increasingly it seems to lack behind Singapore even more

They will continue justify them as long as people are willing to pay them. :td:

There is noticably more pollution (I guess the increase in oil price combined with huge growth has led to lots of coal-fired power plants pumping pollution into the air), much of which flows to HKG at the wrong time of year. The view can be superb on clear days (and they do exist, but not reliably so). Rather ironically most of the pollution isn't from HKG itself, but "across the border" from Shenzen etc.
