HK hostels

hello,

I will be landing at HKIA late next Friday and I would like to know if there are any hostels on Lantau Island. I was looking at staying in hostels in Mong Kok but...I'm not sure how much I can trust staying in one of them in Kowloon, even though they are quite cheap.

I have a flight going out the next day and I was wondering if I could leave my luggage at the airport overnight, has anyone tried this before?

Please advise and thanks

There is a left luggage counter in the center of the arrivals hall. Rate from a year ago was HK$50 for 3-24 hours.

There are no hostels in northern Lantau near the airport. Technically, there are some on the southside, but those are for hikers or local vacationers to overnight in Lantau. Not convenient at all to get to from the airport.

If you don't mind spending a little more than those questionable private hostels in the city, consider these three hotels in Kowloon run by non-profits: Caritas Bianchi Lodge, Salvation Army Booth Lodge - these two are next to each other, very convenient; and the YWCA Anne Black House.

Left luggage overnight for just one piece will cost you almost as much as return transport into Kowloon (by bus). Best advice is to stay in Mongkok, Chungking Mansions or the YMCA Salisbury dorm rooms.
