Any thoughts on aerohkg.com?
 

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has used aerohkg.com? I did find one reference to them on FT but it was simply criticizing the agent's lack of knowledge.

I simply want to know if they're likely to be a safe bet for picking up a cheap BKK-HKG ticket (HK$2880 in F on TG...)

My friend in HK has purchased a very good deal from this agency. She paid HK$4700 (USD580 aprox)from HKG to NYC and open jaw SFO to HKG during xmas holidays. They are pretty good, and reliable. Quick email response.

I have tried them this month based on this two year old thread and my experience has been OK.

Their prices were very good - there were no hidden surprises, they replied quickly and issued e-tickets the next day after they charged my card.

The first time I booked with them they wanted me to fax my credit card and passport to them to protect them from card fraud, I suppose.

Subsequent bookings did not require this.

I did 3 return TG bookings with them and they did them all with a 2 business day turn-around and without any errors.

One booking I needed to make a change (due to my fault) after the e-ticket was issued and this has been pending for over a week now, so after-sale service is a little slack.

They look pretty much the same as flights.com.hk
I always use their website as a reference and my regular agent gives me always at least the same deal, somtimes even slightly better.

Would you be comfortable sharing who you go through ? I'd like to try someone else ex HKG for comparison and reference.

That is a grown 15 year old personal (business only) relationaship. The Lady worked in 5 different agencies over the years. I always get the best price and I don't have to pay in advance. But I need to say that I am not always 100% satisfied with the service. So I don't want to share it here. If still interested, PM me.

www.tiglion.com seems to be another agency that has good fares and internet service.

Thanks to those who posted about the agency mentioned in this thread. I'm going to check 'em out.

Here an interesting example:
HKG-FRA on TG in Q before Sept. 9 is 7280 on tiglion, 6900 on aerohkg.
HKG-FRA on TG in Q after Sept. 9 is 6780 on tiglion, 6390 on aerohkg.

Tiglion has a flight on MU for 3680 which is not listed at all on aerohkg.

On VN for example, they offer different fare classes, tiglion T and aerohgk L so that it is not really comparable.

It seems worth always checking out both.

One thing to bear in mind, particularly for US-based FT'ers is that aerohkg.com charge 2.5% a surcharge for credit card transactions which is permitted in many Asia Pacific countries (as opposed to the US, where merchant rules forbid it).

So if you actually went ahead with an aerohkg.com booking, you'd be informed that the total price is x dollars (usually exactly as shown on the website), and that your "credit card price" is x dollars + 2.5%.

Not sure if Tiglion do this also.

If they don't, the bottom line may work out better.

Just a quick note about Tiglion - I use them as my corporate travel agent and for most of my personal trips. 90% of the time, they have the best Y fares, but i still use them in the other 10% as well as they do provide a good service as well. Have never had any problems in the 5 years of using them.
