Amazon/Transhipper Delays

Anyone have experience with actual delivery times these days for Amazon US and transhippers like Shipbao and Lotpost?

Their sites mention delays, but nothing very specific.

Not directly related.

I mailed some medical supply back from San Francisco to Hong Kong via USPS Priority Mail (practically airmail). It was mailed on 2/22. The package was delivered on 3/17 this week.

So I would say 3 weeks minimum.

Ordered Feb 27, shipped Mar 1, still not in HK yet.
Normally it is 3-5 day to office at Wan Chai

There is no US airline flying into HK.

But UPS is still flying cargo jets into HK, as are some other cargo carriers like Cargolux from Chicago. Indeed, Amazon has been using UPS, as well as DHL.

The problem is not about flights. Amazon pisses off UPS/FedEx by building its own transportation network. Also - USPS has contracts with UPS and FedEx to haul mails.

The actual issue is now all cargo spaces are prioritized. Basically, if the cargo is not urgent, it has to wait.

Amazon seems to have stopped offering free shipping on orders of over US$49 to Hong Kong.

I'll answer my own question: at least with Lotpost, deliveries seem back to normal.

Online order arrived their Oregon warehouse Friday March 27, arrived HK warehouse Friday April 3, and available for pickup today Tuesday April 7. Pretty much same timings as before the epidemic.

I've also noticed they are now not shipping a lot of products to HK.

Yes, they've cut almost everything off.

I assume -- I hope -- that's temporary. They've announced generally they're putting a low priority on "non-essential" items during the epidemic.

Same observations.

It use to be items would not be shipped to HK due to regional distribution agreements. Now it seems like they couldn't be bothered with it.

As an alternative to ordering from the U.S., has anyone tried jd.com? They have a Hong Kong site and it shows whether what you're ordering is currently available in Hong Kong.

Seems particularly good for electronics, but I assume the phones and such they sell are Mainland models without Google Play etc, not the global versions usually sold in Hong Kong. But the website isn't explicit on this.

I heard JD.com are mainly mainland version which has differences in soft or hardware. Google play and bands on smartphone come to mind. With US purchase I know that I can get US warranty service if HK distributor/service wouldn't honour the warranty. JD is like buying water-goods.
