Data sim card in Hong Kong?
Which carrier offers the best value LTE prepaid plan in Hong Kong? I intend to use this with an Apple iPad Air 2 LTE edition.
Thanks. |
For how long and with roughly how much data allowance?

since you appear to be traveling to multiple destinations you might want to check out a product like Flexiroam

Unless I'm mistaken, Three HK is charging HK$88 for 7 days. I don't know if I can roam in Macau. That seems like a pretty good value. The Discover HK is HK$118, but it does allow me to roam in Macau. HK$30 is like US$5 so it's not a big deal, but $5 is still $5. I'm assuming it can connect to LTE networks in both HK and Macau? |

Thanks! Basically you just leave it in your iPad and wherever you travel to, you go into settings on your iPad and sign up for a sim plan when you arrive. Apple's made agreements with some mobile providers world wide (Three in HK, EE in UK, AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon in the US) along with AlwaysOnline and GigaSky for places they don't have agreements. PM me if you get lost. |
Perfect thanks guys!
Also wanted to know the best options for SIM card while traveling through Asia, will be in HK for 2 months.

If you're traveling around Asia the street markets around Ap Liu street in Sham Shui Po resell some Thai SIM cards that work flawlessly around most of the continent for 80-100 HKD.
They usually last for 8 days or 4 GB, whatever comes first. I believe you can top them up but I usually just buy multiples. |

Take along a magnifying glass to read the fine print on the package. Note that the vendors here are there to take your money and hand you the card, nothing more. Don't expect to have a discussion about what cards are good for what, etc. That is, you need to know what you want first.
