Do I need to clear immigration on separate tickets - HKG

I'm arriving into HKG from KUL on CX around 13:30 and then departing for SYD on QF at 20:15 on a separate ticket.

Do I need to clear customs/immigration and check-in with QF and then go back to departures?

Or could I OLCI for my QF flights and go through transit security in HKG with a printed boarding pass?

I had a similar situation, arrived into HKG on AA but had a separate ticket on Air China to Chengdu. I just went to the transfer desk, got my Air China boarding pass and went through transit security. No need to clear HKG immigration. Of course this is assuming that if you have check luggage and it was checked through to your final destination.

Thanks. Nope I'll be hand luggage only.

You should be able to do this with Qantas. However, note that not all airlines provide transit desk service: AirAsia and TigerAir don't, for example.

QF has desk at HKG transit area, you do not need to clear immigration unless if you want to head to the town.

You could also easily tag your bag to your QF flight as well if you've got any.
