Cotai to CAN?
Looking for advice...
Taking a trip to HK, Macau, and Beijing next month. We were originally scheduled to spend a couple of nights in Guangzhou as well so I booked our flights to Beijing out of the Guangzhou airport. Now it turns out that we are staying in Macau until the day of the flight, so I need to figure out the best way to get from the Cotai strip in Macau to the Guangzhou Airport, as quickly as possible. Flight is at 15:00 so I have some time to play with. Do I take a ferry back to Kowloon and grab a train to Guangzhou? If so, how far is the airport from the train terminal? Do I take a ferry straight to Guangzhou? How far is airport from Ferry terminal? Taxi to Gongbei --> taxi to CAN? Looking for the fastest route so I can secure tickets ahead of time. Thanks for any suggestions! |
I think there are g trains between zhuhai and Guangzhou South. While Guangzhou South is about as inconvenient as it gets, Guangzhou East isn't close to CAN either, and going via Kowloon is not something I'd consider (extra border crossing, much slower train, and well over an hour needed just to get there).
If the G train option looks too annoying, I'd look into taxis/buses. I'd also look into eating those tickets. I'm thinking if the refund penalty is y300 or less, flying mfm-pek or zhu-pek might be worth it. |
I went from Macau to Guangzhou. The train (it is a "c" train, no idea what it stands for, but relatively high-speed) takes only 1 hour to get from Zhuhai (across the border from Macau) to Guangzhou South. But from Guangzhou south you have to take the subway all the way to the north station, probably another hour.
I don't think there is a ferry to Guangzhou (turbojet you can charter). |
The train from Zhuhai to Guangzhou South needs about 1 hour.
From South you have to take subway line 2 to Jiahewanggang to switch to line 3 to the airport (it´s all about another 1 hour). Up the escalator and you´re at the departure hall. |
Thanks for the tips! Any suggestions to go from Macau to Zhuhai? I'm assuming taxi. Google Maps always says "cannot route."

The casino buses to gongbei border crossing. Easy

Your hotel will have a free shuttle to the Gongbei border into Zhuhai.
