Tour in Macau?

Hi,

I will be in Macau for one day. Can someone recommend a tour guide for a trip to cover as much as possible?

Not looking to spend my time in the casinos.

TIA

Just in case you don't get any suggestions here...you really do not need a tour guide in Macao. There's only very few places to visit, and if you just take a taxi in between the hotspots everything is within walking distance. If you want a suggestion as to which places to visit and in which order I'll gladly help put a route together.

It is important to note that you'll be staying in the Cotai area of Macau, which doesn't have tourism hot spots (other than casinos). For the most part, all of the tourism spots are on the Macau peninsula... like the famous Ruins of St. Paul's church. As another poster has mentioned, there really aren't a lot of worthwhile tourism spots in Macau. St. Paul's being the most famous and relevant. There are a few other spots like the A-Ma Temple, or the Guia lighthouse, or Sanado Square (nearby the Ruins of St. Paul's), but these aren't too interesting.

Hi,
i would not take a guide. just get the historical walk plan from the tourist office. This is the old city and most important and you will see all sights in a day there. there is plaques to explain everywhere. or make a photo of them and read them at home :-)

I disagree with some of what's being said here, and think the historical center quite interesting. St Paul's is for pictures, but the Monte Fortress NE the to it and the Macau Museum inside is worth a visit. And then go to one of the churches near Senado Sq, but ALSO the restored Casa de Lou Kau, which is also nearby for a look at the local Chinese home.

I agree with the comments above about no need for a guide. I spent about four hours walking around town. Macau is small and the area you would want to tour is a small portion of it. Just get a guide (I used Lonely Planet) and enjoy the day.

Maybe walk through a casino or two just to get a sense. What Macau is today is almost entirely due to those casinos and the money they've generated.
