HK has a number of memorable bus rides. The one that sticks out most in my mind is the Tsim East to Stanley route - the route, not the destination Stanley - but Victoria's peak has good ones too.

Bus 15, Peak to Central/Admiralty is more fun going down upper front row. Especially when Stubbs Rd is not crowded.
Also if you have time take bus 6 to Stanley. For the best views sit on the left side of the upper deck until you get to the stop at the Sinopec station, then switch to the right side of the upper deck. |

The information in this thread was a goldmine today!
I took #15 bus from Central to Peak this am & did the 3 km Morning Trail walk up top. Glorious! The tram itself was packed since Oxfam had a fund-raising event underway. The bus took less than 40 minutes. Since I was the 1st to board, I got the prime seat up top, front row, right hand side! The fare was very reasonable at 8.9 HK $ On my return to Central, I switched to the # 6 bus and road it all the way to Stanley. The bus goes via Repulse Bay Beach (that is when you want to be on the right hand side!). Do NOT alight at Stanley Plaza (NB many tourists did) but instead stay on the bus until it reaches Stanley Village. Its worth a look around, for sure, and then I returned via #973 bus to Tsim Sha Tsui station in Kowloon for 13.6 HK $. All in all, an excellent day of sightseeing, thanks to FT recommendations. |
