dim sum solo
Do people do dim sum solo? If so, any recommended places?
|
Yep it's perfectly fine to dim sum solo :) I used to do it all the time when I lived in Hong Kong. I'd go to a more traditional place instead of the fancy places and go in the morning. Dim sum is really more of a breakfast thing. You'll see lots of local enjoying dim sum while reading news paper.

Tim Ho Wan is a place where you order dim sum, sit down, eat and leave. It's not tea house experience. You don't even get to choose your type of tea.
But it's fine to do solo at either. You just can't sample as many types as if you go with a group, though more restaurants now offer dim sum samplers, designed for single customers. |
Ok, great, thanks!

If you're in the area, here's where I lunch often as it is close to my office:
Right off Electric Road, edge of Victoria Park is the Manulife Building. On ground floor is very nice dim sum restaurant. Not sure if they serve for breakfast but lunch offering is quite extensive and reasonably priced. Closest MTR is Oil Street exit, Fortress Hill Station. |
