Air bridge Collapses at HKIA

An air bridge collapsed at HKIA during the boarding process of a Cathay Pacific Flight. The air bridge involved is Gate 71 and the aircraft involved is B-HLF (Airbus A330). Unfortunately, I am not sure if anyone was hurt. It does look like there was damage to the door L1 of the A330.

Heard that Airport Authority has asked airlines to use single air bridge operation for the time being. Can anyone confirm this?

The collapsed bridge is Gate 71's L2 bridge. Perhaps HKAA wants to check all L2 bridges before giving the airlines the all-clear to use the L2 bridge again?

While a CX A/C was involved, this is more related to HKIA. I am moving this to the HKG forum.

@JALPak, you're famous!:

Let's hope the bridge operator recovers fully.

The FA probably thought that King Kong has struck when the door just right next to her has suddenly been ripped off.

That jetway operator is dead lucky to survive all that, hope he isn't hurt too badly.

Wow. I had just used this bridge several hours earlier on CX567 KIX-HKG flight which arrived around 1pm. Scary!
