HKIA Security Question

Flying from Bangkok to Manila via HKG. My brother asked me to pick up 2 bottles of whiskey in BKK...during previous transits in HKIA I've seen people stopped because they were carrying liquids...anyway way I cold buy and still get it to Manila?

I'm not sure if its wise to just check in the two boxes as is in HKIA.

I have a question about passing through HK security while in transit from SYD to FCO:

Am I allowed to carry a carton of Cigarrettes?

No liquid rule are for US pax

If you are entering HK, cigarettes will be taxed

Refer to the 'Transit Flow Chart' on https://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en...&CX_COUNTRY=HK

If you buy wiskey at Duty free shop in BKK airport, you can pass security check in HKG, cause they can packe in a sealed tamper evident bag.
But if not, you can not pass security check...

Issue not related to CX or Asiamiles.

Moving this to the appropriate forum.

Be forewarned that some aircraft out of HKG have an eventual destination of the USA, which can result in the confiscation of liquids. Our flight to Tokyo continued on to Seattle we discovered when they seized all our water at the gate.

This will also happen on flights operated by US airlines, even if the flight doesn't have an eventual destination in the US.

I am traveling to HKG from sfo on SQ1 arriving early morning, then connecting out in the afternoon. I would like to use the lounges on the airside but also need to enter Hong Kong for a lunch meeting. Say if I go through transit and gets to the airside lounges would I be able to enter Hong Kong again?

You will have to "ENTER" Hong Kong > Going through Immigration and Customs.

But if you can ask a staff escort you back to Arrival Lobby, then it is a different story.

Is there a way to go through customs securities after you get to the departure Airside

People in transit (or otherwise waiting to board a plane) can change plans, may feel ill, etc. Of course they are allowed to enter HKG again, being shown a route to the arrival level. You just have to ask. This is not the "normal flow of traffic".

I flew CX from HKG to NRT and I wasn't allowed liquids. But maybe they just assumed I was on a US bound flight

You mean at the General Security or the Gate Security?

For every passenger the LAG rules is that no liquid > 100ml cannot pass though the security, however you can buy duty free item (liquors, or get a bottle of water from lounge) and bring them on flight

for US bounded flight there're gate security that purposely avoid you to do the above

Yes, but you'd have to ask airport staff to escort you to arrivals. I believe you'd have to go through immigration and customs again if you want to get back to landside.
