1. Can't you check your luggage with the ferry company? I've never tried myself from Macau, but that's how things work in Shekou
2. Have you considered flying MFM-PEK direct? I'm not a fan of Air Macau, but this would shave 2+ hours from your trip

Yes. Because of how SkyPier is set up (non-airside restricted area and one-way traffic only), no ferry company will sell you a ticket if you can't make the flight.

I’ve never been to Macau and as a result, was unaware until a few minutes ago of the nonstop Macau>HKIA Cotai jet. With a 1220 departure back to the US, I imagine the 0715 departure should give me more than enough time. Are the ferries typically on time and reliable, especially in the morning?

Scheduling, how to get to the terminals, pros and cons of each operator, etc., it all has been discussed.
But today I took a day trip to Macau on Turbojet, and I thought I'd share a bit of current feedback.
Tickets: when we got to the terminal at Sheung Wan, the walk-up price was the same as Klook's offer. I just bought at the window.
Ferries: I can't really say they were clean... I mean, I'm sure they get vacuumed and such, but good lord, the upholstery and the carpets need a good shampooing. And the covers for the headrests date from the Roosevelt administration (Teddy's, not Frank Delano's).
Service on board: on coach/main cabin/whatever they call it, it's pretty much minimal instructions on how to find the seats, and then not long after departure someone walks through the cabin with a price list for food and drink. I didn't see anyone order anything. It's only an hour each way, so this was fine.
The return trip was the same (different boat, but the same applies as to carpet/upholstery/headrests).

And the only reason why someone needs a ticket in advance is if you have to be Macau by certain time.

Otherwise - TurboJET is just a quick economy ride.

By all accounts, if you are staring from the urban areas then generally no. If you're starting from the airport then maybe,, but only if the Skypier direct ferry service doesn't work for you for some reason.

No...at least not this moment.
While the HZM bridge is currently operational, nothing is really working as designed. Unless you are looking for the bridge experience, ferries are still the most reliable mode of transportation.
