In that case, I think it might be a long time before U.S. bound flights can participate if it's a matter of meshing security services. Too bad...

I have one other question since this seems to be the de facto "Macau" thread. (I did find one from 2009 but I'm not a fan of awakening older threads for travel information that may have changed.) The Grand Waldo Spa with the "family style spa" and sleeping capsules...this sounded like a great deal but it looks like it might have closed down. Does anyone know?

The baggage check in is offered at the Hong Kong AEL station.

Please check with the MTR Airport Express pages for further information.

It would be quicker simply to walk from the Macau Ferry to the Airport Express check-in than to go that convoluted route on the MTR!

No worries about "quicker." I have firmed up my decision to take the ferry the night before to Hong Kong and spend the night there. This will be a little more relaxing for me, I think.

Really appreciate all the tips, you guys are a great resource.

"SkyPier Check-in" for airlines (such as UA, SQ, CX) with flights to the US certainly is available and has been for years.

In fact, the SkyPier (which is at HKG) is where you have to check in for these flights since you can't check in for them at Macau or at the other ferry ports with service to HKIA.

Im a bit confused about which ferry and which terminal. We will be spending the day on Macau. want to see the old macau and then see the venetian and other casinos. we are going on a weekend. Do we take the turbojet there from sheung wan (which ferry terminal at macau does this arrive at?) and then take the cotai back? (and which terminal does it leave from?)

Thanks to all for your help.

TurboJET operates in & out of the Macau Maritime Ferry Terminal in the Macau Urban area (Macau Peninsula).

CotaiJet operates out of the Taipa Ferry Terminal, right by the Macau International Airport.

TurboJET offers better ride and stability through its fleet of Jetfoils though, especially their Premier Jetfoil that features the Premier Grand Class.

There are 3 main services between center HK and Macau (not including those from Tuen Mun or HKG):

Turbojet - Sheung Wan and Macau Peninsula, mixture of jetfoil, catamaran and foilcat every 15 minutes, sometimes extra sailings

Cotaijet - Sheung Wan and Taipa, catamaran every 30 minutes

New World First Ferry - Tsim Sha Tsui and Macau Peninsula, catamaran every 30 minutes

To get to historical sites in old Macau, don't take Cotaijet. Between Turbojet and NWFF, depends on your hotel location in HK. From Venetian and other casino complexes, there are shuttle buses to either ferry terminals in Macau, so you are not limited to taking Cotaijet back.

While Turbojet's jetfoils and foilcats provide better rides (mainly when the sea is rough), many sailings use their own catamarans, and there is no guarantee. You can ask ticket counter which sailing uses which, if that's a concern.

Hi, I'm looking to go to Macau, straight from HKG(airport).
I saw cotaijet has once a day at 13:15.

But for Turbojet, their website is really confusing.
They mentioned they serve HKIA (and other ferry terminal i'm assuming?), but their scheduling doesn't really say which one's for which.
http://www.turbojet.com.hk/eng/schedule/prd.asp
Or does that schedule apply to all of their terminals?

Based on this wiki, only Turbojet and cotaijet departs from airport to macau right?

You were looking at the wrong page. This is the schedule from HKG to Macau.

http://www.turbojet.com.hk/eng/schedule/airport.asp

All but one sailing each way go to/from the pier on Macau Peninsula. Only one sailing each day to Taipa.

They are operated by Turbojet since quite a while and run no longer every 30 minutes. They have taken quite a few sailings off the schedule or made them optional sailings, resulting in full ferries in more than just a few occasions (long standby queues not only on weekends).

I nowadays go to buy the tickets a day or at least a few hours ahead.

Kowloon to Macau is still mostly every 30 minutes except no 1230 sailing from Kowloon and no 800 and 1130 from Macau.

Still run by NWFF, but marketed by Turbojet.

If you are a seasick type you might want to consider a jetfoil instead of a catamaran. Can be a smoother ride. The website list the times of the jetfoils here (premier jetfoils, but they have regular seats too). The cats sail most of the other times, which is basically about every 15 minutes or so:

KLN to Macau:
13:30, 14:30 15:30 16:30 and 19:30 are optional sailings that only operate if the others are more than packed. I know this first hand as I wanted to go 15:30 today and it was not available.
