What's the difference in containers used in 777s and 747s and those used by A340/330/310/300, A380s and 787s (and even 320/319/321s?) other than shape and size?

Don't think there's any difference, as there are industry-standards. We're just saying luggage may come off quicker on planes that don't use containers at all. Like CO's 738, compared to CO/UA's 744 and 772s.

Of course! The 738 I took definitely doesn't.

A reassuring sight to see your bags made it.

What's particularly impressive is that your baggage arrived on the carousel in less than 8 minutes. They can't even do that at BUR with the aircraft parking right outside the luggage area.

I got into BUR/B3 last week and it took 17 minutes from wheel stop to belt start. Once started the belt was full. I have to conclude they unload just about every bag and carefully make sure priority ones are ahead of the others before they flip the start switch.

Almost the same thing at DFW, also supposed to be a very short distance. Sign says 17-24 minutes. Don't expect any before WS+17.

Now I wonder is priority there to make some bags faster or just to make all other bags slower?

Sorry but I must respectfully disagree. HK immigration officers are angels when comparing to thieir US Customs and Border Protection counterpart.

USCBP officers are invariably rude, intimidating and interrogate everyone trying to enter the US as terrorist suspect. US is the only country in this world to insist travellers to go through immigration screening, collect their bags, go through custom and re-check-in even if they are on an international to international transit connection!

I have a very different impression - we visit the US once a year and each time we got warm welcome by US immigration/customs/quarantine. They asked the questions they need to ask and everytime they said, 'welcome to the US'. Even through agriculture at LAX the staffs were rude to some but not to us. Yes US has the first port of entry 'problem', and it's their choice to do it, so if you don't like it, take another route. That's why we always fly into our final destination to the US.

HK immigration dept was the most rude people we ever met in HK - I'm HK permanent resident and my husband is not (he said they were OK and fairly friendly when he went through the immigration control alone), since we have kids and we don't want to wait, we decided we all go through HKPR lanes (was told by someone works for Immigration dept it's ok as long as one person has HKID). There the officers are so unfriendly (everytime I passed through even before kids time and before the nice e-channel thing - cold face no smile).

Actually an officier really treated us as illegal immigrants when we entered HK once - asked tons of questions and looked suspicious. I think it's because I tried to apply PR for my kids and got denied :td: bad for them because we are both highly educated, with nice and well paid job...... I'd like my kids to see HK as their home too since it's part of their roots.

My sis who lives in HK said she doesn't like to fly CX because they treat westerner better than locals. I experienced this a bit with Thai (haven't flown CX since I was 9), where Mr. Nacho got much better treatment than me (we sat together). It seems to me HK immigration are a bit like that too.
