Hong Kong minimum transit time required

Hello: I am considering buying 2 separate tickets -> one from Xiamen to Hong Kong and the other from Hong Kong to Ko Samui in Thailand. Is a 45 minute transit period enough? If I need to change from T1 to T2 in HK, will it be an issue? Will be able to check my bags straight thru?

45 minutes would only work for flights involving CX and KA, and even then it would be tight. Since CX/KA doesn't fly to Ko Samui then the answer is definitely No.

Whether you can check bags through depends on the interlining arrangements of the airlines concerned. T1 and T2 are simply different landside check-in areas, not separate terminals; if you are doing an airside transit then they are irrelevant - all gates are in the same terminal, although some are bus gates.

How about CA C PEK-HKG arrival 2200 connecting to TK F HKG-IST?
Same ticket number. No problems with luggage either?

Thx.

If it's same ticket number you are well protected. They won't be able to ticket if it violate the MCT rule. HK MCT is 60 min for general transit and 50 min if mix of CX&KA

They are covered, but I was thinking practically. Any real risk of missing connection? They dont have a HK visa, and would likely spend 24 hours in the F lounge.

The TK flight departs at 23:15, right? So you have 75 minutes. Flight delays in China, while not as bad as in the US, are on the rise, especially to/from PEK and the Shanghai areas. So, there's always a risk of missing the connection.

The *A lounges at HKG are not 24-hours. From what I'm reading TK also uses the Plaza Premium pay lounge, which IS 24 hours, but isn't that nice. What is the nationality of the travelers? Turkish nationals can visit HK for 90 days visa-free.

Thanks.

Kyrgyz passport. Scheduled at 2305.
Separate visa for China ok.

So many PEK-HKG flights a day, I'd switch to an earlier one if it were me.

As a second thought maybe, but it was the only flight with 3 seats in C, and best suitable with the transfer into PEK.

Anyway 3x150 USD change fee on US seems steep.

In practice it is possible to make an airside connection within 20 min if TK F extends to providing a buggy at the gate, otherwise 30 min for 3 people is more practical. Presumably TK would hold the flight for 3 F pax connecting a few minutes late, so there is about 40 minutes slack for delayed arrival into HKG. That should be enough for normal delays, leaving the primary risk that the flight is canceled or goes mechanical. HKG airport is maybe the best in the world to be stuck airside in for 24 hours, lots of interesting shops and restaurants (e.g. Caviar House).
