Double Dip Errors - Wrong Room info posted?
I noticed today that my most recent stay posted with my double dip as Southwest - 0 miles. I have never given Hilton my WN#, and upon fishing out my card, the number in the system that was linked to my account isn't mine. The Diamond Desk was unable to repost the stay itself, but gave me a reference number for a request that they send 500 points to my Amtrak account.
All we could think of was that the front desk clerk added the number in error, mixing up the room numbers? |

Sounds to me like that the front desk employee may of been putting in his own frequent flyer number. I have heard of it happening before.

Doesn't the name have to match? I've never claimed WN credit, so am not sure what correct posting looks like, but this said "miles 0" so how could a fraudster benefit?
|
WN miles always post as 0 miles since it's .5 segments per stay

A long time ago, I booked a room for my dad. At checkin, he gave the clerk his AA number. For my next 4 stays, the 500 double-dip miles went to his AA account. So, I guess the names don't have to match.
Granted, this was a few years ago, before all the double-dip options. Now, I find it's best to stick with points-and-points, so it wouldn't matter anyway. |

That has happened to me before but it was our Corp Travel Dept staff putting their own numbers down. Lucky for me I know all my loyalty card numbers and check my reservations and final bill over. |
HGVC in Vegas doesn't print out the guest's airline# on the bill. I suppose I'll have to double check at checkout each time now? They're a great alternative to the cruddy LV Hilton next door.

It isn't really clear at all what you originally INTENDED to happen. Did you, in the beginning, want the Amtrak points, Southwest miles, or something else?
Also, a more descriptive thread title would be helpful. @:-) Obviously I did not want Southwest credit as I said in my original message "I have never given Hilton my WN# ...." To be painstakingly clear about things: my Amtrak# was linked to the original reservation, I never changed that in any way before arriving at the hotel (nor since), and Amtrak showed as my preferred double dip (with the green check mark) along with the mysterious WN# in my double dip partner options list after the stay posted. I feel my reference to "send the 500 points to AMTRAK" was a fairly clear implication that was what I'd wanted, but I suppose I could've added "as per my reservation" to underscore that it wasn't a matter of my having "changed my mind" later. |
