Hilton Rotterdam hotel
Has anyone stayed at this hotel? I did a search, and it was only mentioned in passing. My husband and I are considering it as a base for a six day stay in Holland. We would be touring Delft, Haarlem etc. (The Amsterdam Hilton has no GLON award availability during the dates we need.) I'd like to know what the hotel and its neighborhood are like? Is it close to public transportation?

The Rotterdam Hilton is about a 5 minute walk to the the city train station and adjacent to a major pedestrian shopping mall and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and there is an executive lounge which when I was there was open throughout the day.
The rooms facing the city hall building have a nicer view and are less noisy than the rooms on the train station side of the building. It isn't the trains so much as the road traffic outside that make the noise. Also it seems the streets are always crowded except for the hours of 6-8 AM.
I did a 6 night stay there as a base two years ago. I have used Amsterdam since then as it is a much nicer location in my opinion.

Stayed about 70 nights at the Rotterdam Hilton last year. Everything - I mean Everything - is nicer at Hilton Amsterdam (where I stayed about 100 nights the year before): rooms, lobby, service, executive lounge, VIP welcome present (Champagne for Diamonds), view (canals in Amsterdam, concrete in Rotterdam), area of the city ( + Amsterdam is MUCH nicer than Rotterdam).
The only exception I can think of is that while Hilton Rotterdam has walking distance to the railway station - Hilton Amsterdam is 20-25 minutes away.
Try calling Hilton Amsterdam and request them to open up inventory for your award - if you can make it you won't regret it!

Have you thought of staying at the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Hilton. It is walking distance from the airport and trains to either Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The trains to Amsterdam Centraal run every 15 minutes. I know it does not have a city to go along with it, but it near the Schiphol airport mall. The might have award rooms available as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. We're making the call the directly to the Amsterdam Hilton in the morning, but a backup plan would be great. Is the Schiphol Hilton nicer than the Rotterdam Hilton? Is the airport noise much of a problem?
If we stayed at the Schiphol, do you know if we'd need to take the train into Amsterdam and then catch another train to get to the smaller towns?

I spent a few nights there more than a year ago and the hotel was 'so-so'. I moved around a few room types (due to different rates and status (does ACAQ ring any bell ?) ) and the only thing I remember was the lounge... old style but nice. Basically I erased the room memories from my mind... nothing fancy or too bad. Perhaps in the meantime the hotel was renovated.

Stayed one night last week. Got gold upgrade to exec level on 165 rate without asking. Room was ok, exec lounge was reasonably roomy and not too crowded.
They would only open white wine on request and the food flow through the evening varied from terrible to very good( lamb chops).
There is a large adjacent shopping area and the Hotel will give a pass to the Casino.
I would stay there again!

5 in walk to station and about 20-25 min train ride to The Hague depending on the station you want to go to (Centraal or Hollands Spoor).
There are a couple of good (not Hilton though) hotels in The Hague

Thanks, I was thinking of staying there and taking the one of the (hopefully frequent) trains to The Hague for work during the day.

Have all the rooms at this property been renovated? or just the Executive level rooms? Hotel exterior looked really dated.
