None in Norway (where the Hilton family originated). The Scandics are now gone too (maybe because of unresolvable cultural issues, but more likely for purely economic reasons)

I was looking into a trip to Reykjavk next summer. It has becopme quite trendy with those in the Northeast US, and looks to be quite interesting. There does not appear to be any large chain in Iceland!

Actually what is interesting is to look and see from when this thread started to where we are now! When this thread started there were maybe a half dozen Hilton properties in China, now there are hundreds, maybe there were 7 in Turkey, now there are over 20 in Istanbul alone, and the list goes on and on. There were none in Portugal? Now there are 3 or 4..............

There are a lot of rumours about Athens as the new owners have only Marriotts. If it leaves it wont be long until the Curio opens in Crete.

That is true; and I am not sure that this discussion should be limited to major countries, either.

Especially because of the current 2019 Novel Coronavirus pandemic, this discussion will be kept open, as the hotel landscape has changed considerably in some countries...
