Arrow San Francisco Hilton Financial District {US-CA}

Just heard from a hotel manager today that Hilton is taking over the Holiday Inn in the Financial District in SF and plans to spend 35 million sprucing it up. Even though Epinions says the place isn't too fancy, 35 million should bring a big improvement.

It's a good location for business - it's close to the northern edge of the Financial District, and will also be good for the Jackson Square and Levis Plaza areas. Plus, its Portsmouth Plaza location is great for Chiantown and North Beach tourism on the weekends.

Update New Hilton San Francisco Financial District

Well, this property "appeared" as I was searching for rooms tonight, and it seems like it will open some time next year (after remodel, I suppose).

Description given was:

Located in the center of the most exciting, bustling and culturally diverse areas of the city, the Hilton San Francisco Financial District is surrounded by the Financial District, Chinatown and North Beach. This provocative area is quintessential of rich culture and history providing the best of lively jazz, comedy clubs, fine international cuisine and shopping. Soaring 27 floors over the ''City by the Bay'', the HIlton San Francisco Financial District offers stunning panoramic views of the bay and the beautiful city. The attention to detail of this multi-million dollar renovation will evoke long-lasting connections with our guests. Modern interior decor provides a casual, residential feel with clean lines, water elements and the ambiance of a cozy fireplace. Basil's Restaurant & Bar located on the lobby level has a metropolitan feel offering fresh Mediterranean cuisine with the freshest ingredients and most innovative presentations. Enjoy being pampered at our 10,000 square foot day spa, ''tru'' (Truspa.com). At tru, we have designed an approach around the modern spa patron. The treatments are the center of our universe, focusing primarily on effectiveness, with a generous dose of luxury and relaxation thrown in for good measure. The environment is simple and clean, aesthetically appealing and an inviting atmosphere. Our staff are friendly and welcoming, with a devotion both to helping people and to excelling in their fields of expertise.

Judging from the address of 750 Kearny Street, it appears it's the current Holiday Inn in Chinatown. I hope Hilton will do quite some remodeling before calling it a Hilton!!!

Interesting. I must say that the rooms on the top floor with the balconies were nice when we stayed there last summer. Thanks for the info. (I see the Hilton website shows entry into the Hilton chain as of June 2006.)

Yes, it is the old HI Financial District. It is one of the ugliest heaps of concrete in the City. Hilton could really use the extra rooms in the City, and the location is very good - for business, it is a quick walk to most everything in the Financial District - for tourists, it is also very good - a quick walk to North Beach and the Embarcadero

Hilton San Francisco Financial District

Yes indeed we are remodeling the old Holiday Inn select building, several million dollars worth of renovations will be completed before we re-open as the NEW Hilton San Francisco Financial District. The construction began on June 1st, 2005 and is due to be completed in late 2005. The entire building will be remodeled, when we re-open this will no longer be "your fathers holiday inn" - the only thing that will remain the same will be the great location with breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay. For great rates, stay tuned to www.sanfranciscofinancialdistrict.hilton.com or call now for group rates or negoatiated volume accounts: (415) 765-7874.

Sounds cool. Welcome to FT!

FWIW, the link you posted says this about reservations:
This hotel will be joining the Hilton Family soon but is not yet accepting reservations. It is scheduled to open in June 2006.

The Hilton Web does show June 2006 as our opening as a precaution (as they have not yet assessed our construction progress). Hilton representatives will be on property tomorrow to review this date. The date posted will likely change to March 2006 after our meetings - but as far as the construction schedule progress, we should be open late December or early January 2006. Stay tuned!
