Hilton Evian-Les-Bains {FRA} (France)
I'm planning a trip to Evian for next summer, and would be very grateful for feedback on the new Hilton there (what are the rooms like? breakfast? is there much road noise?) as well as any comments on nearby restaurants/activities. Thanks.

Hilton Evian-les-Bains Trip Reports and Reviews
Just finished a weeks stay with my parents in the new evian hilton.
stayed on a get-together rate ( second room 50% discount) Must say very very nice hotel. fantastic views of the lake and mountain range 2 minns from the Evian harbour for the boat that comes and goes from lausanne. 30 minute crossing Hotel offered to pick us up at the ferry we arrived early so walked infact its not even 5 minns you see the hilton on the left as you come in with the boat. The offer to come and pick us up with the luggage would have been accepted with many thanks if it had been raining fantastic diamond treatment upgrade exec room lake view with balcony (we loved it) what a view, free breakfast and 25 euro credit (each room)for the mini bar. not to mention a little tray of goodies every day in each room Staff are fantastic all very freindly and welcoming, the doormen are great guys they gave us many tips on what to do where go.they even dropped my folks off 10km down the road so as they could go for a walk round a nice castle further along the lake. they even picked them up again. THATS SERVICE. Hotel was very quiet. infact not 100% finished but certainly no building site lovely pool and grounds When we were there the lounge was not opened. i think this is why we got the 25 euro minibar credit; I was told they will open it some time in october. asked to have a little visit; looks very inviting would say full bar and there will be a nice big terrace reminded me of the terrace in sorrento without the pool ; there is the beautiful lake to look at they also have Budda bar spa which will open in the coming 2 months if its anything like their pool it will be heaven. Breakfast was enjoyed by all (french toast loved it) diner 4 evenings in the hotel food looks good and tastes even better try the lamb on a bed of spinich and tomato maybe sounds wild but tasted great. the veg mousaka must have been prepared by a greek granny in the kitchen. hope she is there when i return all the restaurant team could not have been freindlier or more attentive especially the ones in the morning. its been a long time since i have had such a good service at breakfast Evian is a very quiet town every thing dies down after 7 so its not for party goers So if you are looking for a place to chill out and relax. then get hilton evian onto your lists. you will love it. maybe just one last thing its off season between october and march so i imagine it will be very low season.(maybe some deals going) I paid 1st room 155 euros and second room 78 euros. available online from hilton i used code PRO9GT 2 rooms 2 adults just dont expect to swim in the lake. go for the pool 28° very nice |
Thanks for sharing. I've been thinking of stopping thre next spring.

[QUOTE=travelexpert]Appreciate your review--the photos I have seen to date don't tell very much. I have booked two rooms for four nights next summer. From what I read in the guide books, Evian is the perfTE]
ect place to use for day trips to Lausanne and Geneva.[/QUO Really good place to use for day trips. you get the boat to lausanne every 2 hours and i think another to geneva takes about 3 and a half hours you can buy a swiss boat pass to use at ure leisure here is a link to the ferry boats http://www.cgn.ch/Horaires/ |
any new trip report?
|
Wow sounds like a great place. Sounds like a good alternative to the geneva "shag me baby" decor. Maybe even worth the drive, if you know what I mean :p

For example, they do not open the lounge for breakfast. Instead, you get free breakfast at the restaurant (which means a free full breakfast as compared to the continental breakfast planned in the lounge). The lounge is open in the evening, with some snacks and complimentary drinks. Since 1 March, they've opened their spa. Very nice, and very pleasant staff. Great hotel, very friendly staff. Because it's quiet, they do remember you, so you never have to tell reception in which room you are. Cheers, GenevaFlyer |
Evian-les-bains
Has anyone stayed at this hotel or is anyone familiar with the location? I did a search and came up almost empty handed save one or two posts. I'd like to know if it's in a scenic area with things to do nearby? The web site makes it appear to be fairly nice although it doesn't look like it should be a Category 6. Hard to tell by the pictures though.

Yes, you are so right, I could have, had it popped up. Type in evain-les-bains and you will get 2 posts neither of which was the one you posted. That link was very informative and it was just what I was looking for even though it was written over a year ago. Sorry to have annoyed you ;). In any case, thank you.

Excellent Stay in Evian-Les-Bains Aug 2007
Had excellent treatment as a gold member on a 3 night paid stay with my husband and parents this year.We had booked the cheapest rooms on an advance purchase rate. Both rooms were upgraded to the executive deluxe rooms. These were huge rooms with a balcony looking out over the front of the hotel across the lake. My room contained a 1/4 bottle champagne, a nice note from the manager and Pierre Marcolino chocolates.
The rooms were modern and spacious with good hanging space, a desk, excellent bed and a very spacious bathroom with separate shower. Staff were very helpful and we were allowed to use the executive lounge prior to the check in time. The lounge was amazing. Branded champagne, good wines and beers and some nibbles. Plus an open terrace looking over towards lac leman .It did not open till midday ( so breakfast here is not an option) but we were given free breakfasts in the main restaurant which was excellent. Leisure facilities were the best I've ever seen in a hotel. Indoor and outdoor pool with sauna steam, soaking tubs and a huge well-appointed gym with very up-to-date equipment ( including tv monitors on each piece of equipmment). The theme is very zen and restful. Staff were warm and friendly .Cocktails in the bar and a simple meal in the less formal restaurant were well prepared and served with a smile. The hotel is next to the Evian day spa where you can buy treatments or day packages. The underwater vaseline massage was incredible. There is a small casino in Evian ( nothing like a Vegas casino I should warn my American colleagues!). Nice walk alongside the prom. The town centre was sweet, and on a Summer Saturday evening the main street of restaurants was buzzing with street musicians etc. The ferry crosses Lake Geneva to Lausanne and there is a medieval village Yvoire which is supposed to be very pretty and is accessible by the ferries which leave from the harbour 200 yards from the main entrance. The hotel can arrange transport to and from Geneva airport for approx130 euros. I can highly recommend this hotel and the town. We wish that we'd spent at least 4 days there. Please feel free to e-mail me with questions |
