I've just searched this forum, and can't find any reports on the Luxor Hilton. I'm bemused, as I would have thought a number of the Hilton afficionados would have made their way there. Has anyone gone? What did you think? How is the location? The quality of the property?

This Hotel was the worse hotel that we have stayed in for many years. Not just the worse Hilton...the worse any hotel. We were there in January of this year and had understood they were going to tear it down.
It was truly a bad property at every level.
On the other hand..if you are looking for a Luxor hotel...check out the Meridian in the center of town . We had dinner there a couple of times and it seemed to be a very good property.

Booked 3 nights at the pts stretcher of 21,000 per night, the rate was around $300/night so good value. The resort just reopened after 3 year reno and US$30m. The exec staff at Rames Hilton Cairo called ahead and they agreed to pick us in their minivan for free. We received a Nile view room which I found quite small, but well appointed. Bfast was complimentary each morning and so was was ithe nternet (only during soft opening). The whole feel is like the Conrad Bali but not as flash, swimming pool very shallow however, no executive lounge. Service was good, as staff trying to impress for reopening. Each day we received an offering sometimes cakes , special juices delivered to room. Very secure location, down end of driveway, security on gates. Bfast huge offering, everything provided. Didnt try the restaurants, there was a thai one there I noticed. Beds very comfy.

I have 2 nights at the 21,000 point level booked for January. I also booked at the Sheraton for 3,000 points. I am trying to gauge what is the better value.
It is nice to hear there is a comp breakfast.
I visited the Luxor Hilton in 1993 for an evening. Is that the same hotel?
Was the location convenient?
Will also be staying at the Ramses Hilton. Any tips on the Ramses would be helpful.

I also booked 2 nights on the 21000 points deal. I will be going in Dec. Is the hotel far from the city? I will be staying here after a Nile cruise ending in Luxor, what's the best way to get to the hotel? Is it worth the $385 they're asking if not using points? Thanks!

Recently returned from a stay at the Hilton Luxor. The property was beautiful, definitely the nicest hotel in Luxor. I was also very impressed by the service. The best service I have received at any resort! Everyday management sent us platters of chocolates, fruits, juices, and snacks. We were upgraded AND received free high speed internet. The concierge was so helpful! Lastly, the breakfast buffet was wonderful! It blows any other free breakfast buffets away at other hotels in Egypt! I HIGHLY recommend staying at the Hilton if you're going to be in Luxor.

Hilton Luxor Resort
Has anybody stayed here recently, I went to Trip Advisor and they raved (3 people). It sounds like they just reopened a couple of months ago. I checked the rates for next Christmas and they were high! Finally how far is it from Cairo?

How far is it from Cairo? My wife and I are thinking about 2 rooms/travelling with 3 college age students primarily to site see and a little sunning. Is this a 2 days in Cairo then 4 days in Luxor type thing? We thought we would stop over in London for a few days, we plan to travel around 10 days over Christmas break. Thanks

Agreed- I'd say 3 days in Luxor is enough. Don't miss the hot air balloon at dawn. I'd fly to/from Cairo too- one hour flight.

Ive just booked a reward stay via Hilton UK. Here the property is still a category 3 (Hilton US 5) and the PS night is available for 15,000 (Hilton US 21,000)points. The system even allowed me to select a junior suite (Hilton US only standard room).
Now I am wondering if the hotel will honour this.
Has anyone experienced something similar?

The booking system allowed the choice of junior suites at Bucharest Hilton last summer, even at the Pointstretcher rate. It was honored.
