However I did receive (in error?) email from the resort manager saying that the mandatory gala dinner costs $95/per person (so about $230ish after tips and taxes I suppose). Since I have it in email etc that the dinner is included I'm not too worried and fully plan to contest the charge either with them, with Hilton or amex dispute later.

So yeah, don't trust what the website says for this hotel.

I'm staying at this Hotel in a few weeks. They are picking me up at the Luxor Airport and claim they charge $15 each way. I see people claiming in 2019, that Diamond members get this for free, but the Hotel never mentioned this to me even though I mentioned I'm a diamond member. Has this changed or is it still free for Diamond?

Stayed there last May. It is not free any longer.
We also got the hotel offer and it was 15 USD/pp.
Finally we decided to skip the hotel offer and negotiated with a taxi driver, IIRC it was around 10 USD, for 2 pax, including the tip.
Enjoy Luxor!

I stayed here in December for five days. You cannot beat the Nile view and the cool breeze in the evening.
But one of the worst breakfast menus around. It did not change for five days, and the same items over and over again (sigh).
Much cheaper to grab the local taxi to and from the airport. My room balcony doors didn't seal properly when closed. Every day at 4 am, you could smell the smoke creep in from outside (local bakeries, garbage burning, etc.). The hotel was fully booked, and I couldn't even switch rooms.

In my opinion, the Hilton Luxor has a great breakfast buffet spread. You're right that the items are the same from day to day, but there are quite a few to choose from and the quality is good. I view the breakfast as a plus for the hotel.

it was bad luck that the hotel was fully booked because in our last year visit, May, they were generous with the upgrades.
I guess December to March are high season.
For us, and as mentioned by SAT Lawyer, the breakfast was very good and the variety was fine for 5 days. Also I see it as a plus.
Is still in place the complimentary drinks/snacks for HHD @ 5pm?
Thanks,

I also stayed at Hilton Ramses for five days in Cairo. You should see the breakfast spread and choices over there. Much much better. Having the same breakfast menu items daily is a big no-no for me. Sure some items will repeat, but everything.. no thanks.

Ive stayed at the Ramses Hilton multiple times over the years. The breakfast spread is not as good as it used to be, but it still is very generous. And the quality is good. Frankly, I think both these Hiltons have some of better breakfast buffets of any I have visited on my travels in terms of diversity and quality of food and number of food items, both hot and cold.

Had a three night stay here as a Diamond. Booked two standard rooms. On arrival we received connecting rooms, as requested, with Nile view on the ground floor. The room itself was on the dated side, whilst the rest of the common area's are much more modern and sleek. Especially the outdoor area is very nice with a cascading pool. The resort is bit out of town and the entrance on a busy road is unassuming. Once inside, it's a quiet oasis with very nice Nile views. Plenty of deck chairs around to relax.
Breakfast has a large selection of all the usual dishes. I did find the quality lacking, however. The hotel also offers a modest happy hour for Gold and Diamond members in the lobby bar between 17-18h. Softdrinks and local alcoholic beverages are on offer together with finger sandwiches, a hot item and a dessert. Food wasn't the best and certainly not substantial. Nevertheless a nice extra perk for elite members.

Whilst Uber is not available in the city, the local equivalent Careem is. Ride between the hotel and center cost about 25-30 EGP.

Did not eat at the hotel. Two restaurants were recommended to me in Luxor: Sofra (authentic Egyptian) and Al Sahaby Lane (more general Middle Eastern). We liked both. Reservations highly recommended.
