Return minibar key?
I accidently swiped a minibar key from the New York Hilton on Sunday. I'd like to return it, but I'm a bit afraid to alert them to the fact that I took it in the first case. This is a hotel that seems to charge a fee for everything possible. I could mail it back anonymously, but then I wouldn't have it if they come looking for it. Or I could just do nothing.
Any advice?

People mistakenly forget to return things all the time.
Send it back with a note apologising for not returning it as you totally overlooked it (or something to that effect anyways).
What can they charge you for if you return it?

I'd send it back with an apologetic 'I forgot to turn this in at check out and found it when I was getting ready to wash my pants', or something to that effect. You might get some comp coupons for your 'honesty' and good will attempt.

I stay at one HH very frequently (which has a liquor store across the road)...front desk usually forgets to give me a minibar key so I kept one about a year ago and it just lives in my suitcase. While staying there I grab a 6pack or whatever across the street and I use their fridge...beats shuffling down the hall for ice.
cheers,
