Just a thought in trying to figure this targetted thing out.

Pdhenry - what's your Hhonors level? Is it below Diamond?

I'm Diamond, with a registered email address and get all my correspondence from Hilton via email (by request) and did not receive the offer.

I'm asking about the honors level, because, as Diamond, I think we already receive double base points. Could this be a some incentive to try to get those who don't stay as much as Diamonds already do, to increase their stays??

Are those who didn't receive it, Diamond and those who did, below Diamond??

Diamond only gets 50% bonus on Base Points, unless your "Double Dipping" preference is point+point, then you get 5 bonus points on top of your 10 base points for every $ spent at Hilton properties.

So, in effect our status as Diamonds are giving us a m-i-n-u-s 50% "bonus".

If you are Diamond you get the 10X bonus for the double-dip PLUS the standard 50% for Diamond.

It might be a splendid suggestion to go read the T%C yourself rather than jumping to ( wrong )conclusions.

Yes, if you choose HHonors Points and HHonors Points (I forgot to mention the MyWay choice, above), you Earn 10 HHonors Base points + 5 bonus points per eligible U.S. dollar spent

Don't forget, if you are a Diamond member - Point Bonuses: Earn a 50% bonus on all HHonors Base points credited while you are a Diamond VIP.

I've checked all my earnings since I chose Points + Points...I am a Diamond member and for each dollar I spend at a Hilton Hotel, I earn 20 points (10 base points + 5 bonus points + 50% bonus on base points = 20), that's how I came up with "I think we already get double points".

It'll be interesting to see if there is any additional points earned by all or a select few during the period shown on pdhenry's post card.

I did not get this offer either.

Am I wrong, or wouldnt the 10x double dip go to the person earning the DOUBLE base promotion, too ....in fact earning them twice the base points that a Diamond would earn?

In other words:

Diamond WITHOUT PROMO
$100 stay=1000 base points (no promo)
+500 (50%)
TOTAL=1500

Silver WITH PROMO
$100 stay=2000 base points (double points)
TOTAL=2000
(+ I think 15% for Silver etc.)

Anyone think this is right? This would be if airline miles are chosen. And if we already do get "double points" as mentioned above, isnt it a valid concern that HHonors gets a further dilution of the program?

I'm Gold, 2 nights from Diamond. Two nights in a Hilton, the other 56 in various Hamptons.

When I had this promo before as a Diamond, I remember getting a total of 3X points (base, 0.5 base for Diamond, 0.5 base for points vs. miles, base for "double base").

I think Hilton's method is to encourage behavior change rather than reward past good behavior. If you're already spending 120 nights with Hilton it doesn't make sense for them to spend additional $ marketing to you -- they've already got your business.

On the other hand, I didn't receive the "small token" iPod, so I guess they do some rewarding as well for those who don't need to be marketed to.

OK, so I'll start... has anyone had luck getting this added to their account who was not targeted? :)

First of you are making a big assumption here that Silvers are even targetted for these promos, there is scant evidence that is ever the case.
In the two ( extreme) examples you outline the Diamond will get a lessor amount of points, but so what?
My wife got a promo as a AA elite offering her a total of 50k points for 4 stays, more points than I as a Diamond earned in my previous 8 HH stays at the time as a Diamond, should I have been pissed that I didnt get the offer?
Even if she did take the offer ( which she didnt since we already had a mutual and was Diamond anyway) 50k points are equal to 2 only nights in a cat 3 property not hell of a lot of dilution there with a bunch of credit cards and other earning opportunities around plus it could have been successful marketing by HH.

Surely as a Diamond you do not expect to get more points than every single HH member in every single situation whether promo or not?

It also seems that you and the other poster to whom you responded are confusing the My Way Selection with the current double point promo.
Note also there had been a double promo which ended in Feb for the 3-4 months previous I bet those who got that has not been tragetted for the current one nor the current 1000 point online booking bonus currently running till May??

Is this the whole postcard? It says nothing about it being non-combinable. So what happens if you stay at the sfo hilton which has a h7 double points special, and (it) doesnt say that its non- combinable? do you get double-double points? Hows that for a FT puzzle? :D PS I would also like to make a suggestion to everyone. Before you call the Diamond desk and try and get this. I would wait a week or two. It would suck to beg for a double points deal, when there could be something more valueable coming up.

The way I've always seen it work is that bonuses may be combinable but they're not multiplicative. So a double points bonus coupled with another double points bonus equals 3x points, not quadruple points. The bonuses are based on the "real" base points before any other bonuses have been added.

Actually, OB1, I may wind up passing on this one. Unlike some, I find it kind of awkward to do so. Guess that's why I'm not in the Purchasing Department!

Although I did manage to ask (not beg) my way into the recent 5/10/15 promo, my imagination still provides an image of all the Diamond Desk CSRs talking about yet another "whiney" VIP. Oh well, I'm rambling. I'll report back should I decide to try a little of that begging action.
